Exceptional Fit and Stability for Long Hikes
These shoes have quickly become my go-to for serious hiking. I’ve tried a lot of different big brands over the years, but the fit on the Terraventure 4 is in a different league. The toebox is generous without feeling sloppy, and the overall shape of the shoe just works with my feet in a way that most others don’t. What stands out most is the stability. Whether I’m on rocky trails, loose gravel, or uneven forest paths, these shoes provide a solid, planted feel that gives me confidence with every step. The 3mm drop keeps me feeling connected to the ground while still offering enough cushion for longer treks. I’ve put in some full-day hikes with these already and my feet felt supported the entire time. Durability also seems promising so far. The materials feel tough without being heavy, and the outsole grips well on both wet and dry surfaces. These aren’t flashy shoes, but if you care more about performance and comfort than trendiness, they absolutely deliver. Highly recommend for anyone who hikes regularly and wants a shoe that balances comfort, support, and a proper anatomical fit. I’ll be sticking with Topo for the long haul.

Held up in European walking tours!
Excellent all around. I bought my first Terraventures (un-tested) for a trip to Europe. That was a terrible idea, trying new shoes for that trip. It worked out great! These shoes are comfortable, durable, good fit, good looking enough. I wore them through hours long tours, long entrance lines, in absurdly hot weather (over 100*F), on sand and rocks, and it all went great. I'm a teacher, and now I wear these for standing 5 hours at a pop, and they're the most comfortable shoes. I will definitely buy another pair. Good: Low drop was great for feet and calf muscles. Cushioning was quite comfy (I weigh 225). Toe box is roomy. Arch support is definitely sufficient. Uppers are breathable but not too thin. Subdued colors work in Cathedrals and Pubs equally well. Bad: The only thing I don't like is the bright color logo on the side. Way more comfy than my Merrell Moabs, Timberland boots, Vans, and Clarks. Similar to my Altra trail runners, which are also great, but too colorful for a restaurant in Florence. I would recommend these to a friend, and buy another pair for myself.

Quality Shoes but Extra Roomy Toe Box (may work perfectly for some but not for all)
Product arrived way too late but that's perhaps because Amazon (AWS) servers were down on 10/20/2025, not necessarily the fault of the merchant. The shoes themselves look sturdy and well made but I had to return it because the roomy toe box is too wide for my orthotics that kept sliding side ways with every step and may cause blisters in the future. These wide shoes definitely need their own orthotics. All in all, they look like quality and sturdy shoes though!

Pretty terrific trail shoes, but they need better insoles.
These are the best hiking shoes for me because I have wide feet and the toe box just fits me better than anything else I've tried. Also I can vouche for the slip resistant vibram soles, especially appreciated when the trail includes any slippery rock scrambling. I'd give them 5 stars but that would require the insole to be significantly better than the cheap piece of foam they include. I always replace these with Trailblazer insoles by Superfeet. Other than that these are terrific trail shoes.

Excellent walking/hiking shoes
These are my favorite shoes, and I have three pairs of them (plus a couple pairs of the prior model). I do a lot of walking around home (3-5 miles almost every day for exercise), and I like to do Camino walks in Europe. These were great on the 490-mile French Camino, and they held up well for the rougher terrain of the 103-mile Tour du Mont Blanc hike. They were great for the Timberline Trail around Mount Hood in Oregon. In short, they're comfortable on terrain from sidewalks to rough rocks. I recommend pairing them with Superfeet Hike cushioned insoles. Feet come in many shapes, so these might not work for you, but they sure are nice for me. One note about comfort: There's a well-known brand of shoes that has become very popular in recent years, and people like them because they feel so plush and comfortable when you put them on. These Topo shoes won't wow you when you first put them on. They feel pretty good, but nothing to write home about. Where they excel is that after 15 miles on the trail, they STILL feel pretty good. That's far more important.

Most comfortable shoes I've ever put on
What I like: 1) Allows my toes to spread out ergonomically specially the big toe which was getting impinged with other shoes 2) The 3MM drop is great for training my feet to pronate and supinate properly 3) The cushioning combined with the vibram sole is comfortable yet allows me to feel the ground 4) It's breathable so my feet stays cool 5) It's light weight 6) Nice color 7) I like it so much I bought 2 What I don't like is there isn't much options on color just Gray or Blue

Lots of toe room, but very high arch support.
Loved the toe room, but the higher arches caused foot pain. I wish the stack was lower and this came in a zero drop. Topo doesn’t seem to have a 23mm-ish stack with zero drop for trail running. Honestly it would be a great jack of all trade shoe if they did.

Balance of comfort and protection.
A design flaw in the Saucony Peregrine forced me to search for a new trail shoe and I found the Topo Terraventure. The trails near me have shale so a rock plate is a must. This shoe offers great protection from the rocks yet is surprisingly comfortable. The wide toe box is new to me but it feels natural and took little to adapt to it. The bunion on my right toe is happy to have the extra room! My runs in this shoe have been between six and 20 miles and, so far, I couldn’t be more pleased that I took a chance on Topo. A few more pluses are good traction, good laces that stay tied, durability, and the material doesn’t collect sticky seeds and debris. As a serious trail runner, I would recommend this shoe.
