wonderful gift for girls
I gave this book and doll to a friend who's Granddaughter is named Ella. She was very pleased to get it. Great gift even if the names don't match.

I own the entire series!
I recently purchased all of the Go! Go! Sports Girls books for my daughters. (I played college basketball, and I have dreams of both of my girls discovering the fun of team sports). The real surprise came in reading them. They are NOT the average children's books. These are story-driven and beautifully written. I think the reason they impress so much is that they deliver on what Dr. Seuss identified as children's seven basic needs: love, security, belonging, achievement, knowledge, change, and aesthetics (I ran across this while reading Theodor Seuss Geisel by Donald Pease pg. 77). The characters and plots are entertaining and meaningful without being didactic. Of course, I also loved the illustrations and the fact you can purchase dolls to accompany the stories, dolls that don't send our girls the wrong message about how their bodies should look. I can't wait to make it a Go! Go! Sports Girls themed Christmas with all of my family and friends. I sincerely hope this product line finds the success it deserves. I hope for a day when our stores (and high schools) have fewer Barbies and more Go! Go! Sports Girls!

Great book! My daughter and Ioved it!!
We love this book! A friend of mine recommended it because she knows I love to run and I have young active children. From the very beginning we were both hooked by the interesting story line and sweet characters. There is a great message in this story about learning responsibility and working together as a family. The book also teaches fun facts about running along the way. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with children. It promotes good physical AND mental health.

Granddaughter loves doll and story; unique, healthy messages are so valuable
Bought Runner Girl Ella doll and Runner Girl Ella's Story for our 6 year old granddaughter (her name is Ella too!). Gave it to her several days ago. She hasn't put the doll down since. She listened carefully as I read the story...which I'm sure we'll ready together many times over the next few months/years. The healthy messages are so refreshing...and unique. I have a feeling there will be more Go Go Sports Girls in Ella's future...and am certain we'll be giving them as gifts to her younger sister too.

It is SO about time the image of girls and ...
It is SO about time the image of girls and young women portrayed in the media, literature and toy dolls change! In my youth, it was not popular to be interested in sports - cheerleading was acceptable, however. I preferred competitive sports - basketball, swimming and running. The "Go, Go Sports Girls" series is a breath of fresh air. Please give us more positive support for women, of all ages, to engage in healthy, life sustaining activities. My grandchildren thank you!

Parents will appreciate the positive choices made by the main character and young independent readers will enjoy the simple plot
Outstanding message sent to girls: get active, set goals and nothing stands in your way if you believe in yourself. Story is engaging, illustrations are colorful and quick facts on running events, nutrition and exercise make this a winner for young readers. Parents will appreciate the positive choices made by the main character and young independent readers will enjoy the simple plot and eye-catching artwork. Will inspire girls to get out and run!
