Treating Nonepileptic Seizures: Therapist Guide (Treatments That Work)

If you want to provide or learn about the evidence-based treatment for psychogenic nonepileptic seizures, this is the book. It's basically what Dr. LaFrance and his team did in his randomized clinical trial. It's meant to be used in conjunction with the patient's version of the book. Reading through it will be good even if you don't directly provide the therapy so that you can use some of the concepts in delivering the diagnosis of PNES or in considering the diagnosis. It was originally formulated based on a book about using similar techniques to improve epileptic seizures, so the same concepts can be used to improve seizures and quality of life in epilepsy. (My bias: I also work in PNES, but I haven't collaborated with Dr. LaFrance yet.)

Great tool in a difficult diagnosis but not as useful for adolescents.
