This electricity usage monitor is a useful tool! The large LCD display makes it easy to read, and the eight modes provide a good range of data, including wattage, voltage, kWh, and the total cost of electricity consumed. It's simple to plug in and operate, and the backlight is a great addition. I've found it beneficial for identifying power-hungry appliances and those on standby, as well as for understanding my energy consumption. It's a worthwhile purchase for anyone looking to reduce their electricity bill.

This was a good purchase. The unit works very well, has numerous outputs, easy to read and easy to use, well built and good value for money.

I had no idea my freezer cost £0.10 to run, per day. Or that the server in my loft runs me £0.38 a day. Or that the electric heater in my hallway runs me a whopping £4.76 a day when left to maintain a constant temperature. I had an old fan heater: £7.17 a day. After recovering from the shock of discovering that, I bought a new Dimplex replacement: £4.28 a day. Saving practically £3 a day means the new heater pays for itself in about 3 cold months. It's data like this I never had before: this power meter makes it readily available with practically zero effort. As I mentioned, it has already saved me money by making me realise how huge a contribution to my electricity bills one old fan heater was making. You'll use this a few times, plugging different appliances into it and letting them run for a day or two, before measuring their electricity consumption (it allows you to enter a unit cost, too, so you can simply measure the pennies or pounds spent directly, if you prefer). After that, you can make *informed* choices about how best to economise (and how worrying about leaving an electric blanket on all day by mistake -daily cost 8p- is a waste of your time and well-being!) Thoroughly recommended if you've never used one before. I don't know if this is better or worse than equivalent models: I know this was cheap enough for it to not even be thought about for more than about 30 seconds before taking the plunge and buying it. Anyone needing to cut their electricity bills really needs at least one of these, pronto!

Bought as I wanted to check power draw on some mini PC's and laptops. Works really well, is clear and easy to read.

This plug sounded ideal to monitor the cost of a Dehumidifier I purchased. It had all of the function needed including a battery backup it the power was removed or the plug unplugged. The problem was the battery backup does not appear to work as if I unplug it the display disappears as well as the stored data. I decided to keep the plug as it was the third one I had tried and they all had the same problem and so long as I keep it plugged in I can monitor the cost of running the dehumidifier. The plug is robust and appears well made with a clear display and backlight.

Seems to work OK, monitoring, calculating and accumulating several factors eg voltage, wattage, even cost. But in the absence of any user instructions it’s difficult to tell what some of them are and how to set them. If you just want to know how much power a particular device is using at the present time it seems to work. The display is clear, the design and the build quality good.

I was a bit skeptical due to some bad review, complains about the back-light and display, and also some terrifying pictures of molten plugs. However IF someone read the manual, it specifically specifies that the device configuration MUST be changed before use. Out of the box the power limit before a shut off is set to 3600W. Any reasonably knowledgeable person will set this to 1500W max, or even lower to match the expected power rating of the connected device. The display is fine, but must have the back-light on to see it. There are also configuration for setting the back-light timeout. I set it to manual, so I hit the "UP" button to turn it on, and use the "DOWN" to turn it off. You can choose other options. Some other complaints were about accuracy at low power, again this is addressed in the manual. So it turns out that most negative 1 star reviews were basically regarding issues that were addressed in the included documentation anyways. There are valid concerns, such as the device not being certified, or tested by various relevant certification bodies, and for this category of device it is desirable to have proper certifications. However, having the device certified will probably push up the price way higher than what this is selling for right now. Additionally the competition is charging a lot more for an inferior experience. So just take it for what it is.
