Product description Why not reduce the dangers in your water get great value at the same time? Here is why you should get a Glacial Stream Personal Water Filter Straw - According to national statistics from different publications and Government studies ALL water is contaminated in some way. Therefore, the only safe way to have clean water is by utilizing some form of water filtration - This Portable Water Filter eliminates up to 99.9% of heavy metals as lead, mercury, hydrogen sulphide, aluminum, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, and barium, in addition to chlorine, fluoride, E.Coli, giardia, algae, fungus, scale, and sediment. All of this is done without the use of chemicals. - The filtration straw does this with a combination of three micro filters, activated charcoal, and a patented, high purity metal alloy. The alloy consists of two dissimilar metals, copper and zinc, that once wet, create an electrostatic charge that attracts contaminants and electroplates them onto the media through a process called electro-chemical oxidation reduction. - The Water Filter Straw is a perfect solution for your daily filtration needs or in any situation where the water may be dirty, just put it in your bottle, glass, or cup and start sipping. Now keep in mind this filter works by suction so there will be a slight resistance when sipping, this ensures you that the filters are doing their job and supplying you with clean fresh water. - Give yourself or your loved ones the peace of mind of always having an extra layer of filtration when drinking water while on the go. Remember when in doubt, sip it out. - This Personal Water filter is proudly made in Canada to the highest quality standards We have a no hassle 100% guarantee refund policy. If you use this and do not love it, simply return it for a full refund. You have nothing to lose. Consider picking up an extra one for that active friend/family member who is always on the go! Legal Disclaimer Filtering Media Laboratory Tested and meets E.P.A and F.D.A standards. The Straws were tested accordingly to the EPA 1987 protocol microbiological water purifier testing; the results show that the Glacial Stream Water Filter Straws meet and exceed the EPA requirements of LOG 6 reduction for bacteria and LOG 3 reduction for protozoan parasites. Results may vary depending on water source.

Probably very useful in emergencies but not great for everyday use when travelling.
As stated in the headline I'm sure this is extremely handy for emergencies hence giving it 4 stars, however I wouldn't personally take this travelling as an everyday use type straw if you're trying to maybe not buy water in plastic bottles etc. Reason being it's like trying to suck a marble through a straw (Maybe exaggerating there), the flow rate is ridiculously slow, especially if you're trying to quench a heavy thirst.I'd definitely keep it in the emergency supply kit though for extreme situations.

Compact water purifier
I have not tested this out in the field yet. However, from the first looks, the purifier looks good. It's compact thus is easy to pack. It is also really light. I have tried to suck some air through it, just to get some feel and it seemed rather hard to do it. Not sure if it would be the same feeling with the water, but I hope that it gets easier since this could be a bit uncomfortable.

What a waste
Instructions said to keep the straw moist, which led to it going moldy after about a month. No customer service.

Great price, but would like to see an actual scientific test
It's half the weight of "the blue filter straw" and I've only had it out once when fishing a local river but it served the purpose. Will need to put it to a season or more of use, but so far, so good, and it's a Canadian company. What I don't like - Glacial Stream makes claims about its effectiveness on small particles (99.99%), but I don't see any evidence that they've done any actual testing, only that these filters should perform that well. Without the evidence I guess I'm a guinea pig, so 4 stars until then.

Difficult to use and questionable effectiveness
The size was good but still too large be to replace straws as it won't fit into holes made for straws. The product only allows a small amount of water through so a lot of effort is needed to drink a decent amount of water.... Strains your ingesting muscles. Lastly the taste of the water taste the same as unfiltered hence I question if it works as advertised. I will prefer if the filter's effectiveness was confirmed by a reputable 3rd party.

Works well and water tastes good
I used this straw out of my tap water and compared it to my filtered water. It has a slightly different taste compared to my inline filter, but it doesn't have the chlorine taste that the unfiltered tap water has.The instructions say to allow the water to sit 1 to 2 seconds in the straw and then to draw it up slowly. I found the pressure to sip it to not be too hard - definitely something a child could do.I bought this for travel and the carry case that it came with will work well for my carry on. The only thing I wish is that the sipping cap was a different color so that it looks more like a regular straw. It's a small complaint really - but would be nice to have some choices in the color of the tip.Very happy with it overall.

Drink up!
I had a clean sip straw before, which my youngest ran off with, so I needed a replacement. This was what I found to be closest to the previous one I had and I was not disappointed. Easily portable, discrete, and assures that I have clean water whether it's at my local restaurant, out camping or while traveling abroad. Everyone should have one on them. Yes, it requires more work than a regular plastic straw, but then you don't want quick access to dirty water, now do you? So never mind the fuss. This baby has got you covered/

ensures your drinking water is safe to drink when travelling.
I used this product in Central America where sometimes you can taste the chlorine from the tap or restaurant water. Chlorine is used to kill many types of bacteria and germs, so perhaps that is a good sign that the water has been treated. This straw water filter definitely works well in removing the chlorine taste, providing great tasting water. It gave me more confidence that my drinking water is safe to drink. A tip is to sip slowly to ensure a good filtration. Please, refill your stainless steel bottle, and purchase less plastic bottled water!!! Safe travels!

great for survival kit
Smaller than more expensive products on the market. One concern is that it says that after the first use it should be used daily,so you might want to wait until you really need to use it instead of trying it out to see how it works.

Great strew filtration unit
I work in Toronto, Ontario, Canada there is so much clorean in the water along with fluoride. I find it hard to drink. This filtration strew takes away the unwanted taste. I brought a spare one for my backpack that is my daily carry all.

My husband is an avid Fisher & hunter and will ...
My husband is an avid Fisher & hunter and will be gone all day when he does either of these things. He likes to keep things light & minimal while out, and this little straw will do just that. As this is a gift, I can't say if it works or not yet, but it came early & is as advettised.

Not for regular use
I like that the idea that it can make risky water potable. It is not like sipping from a straw where water flows naturally. It takes quite a bit of effort to sip through it.I ended up taking a risk drinking water without it. I only used it when I was very much in doubt of my drink.

Great product
Bought as a gift for my sister who can’t drink tap water due to chlorine. She carry’s it in her purse and uses at restaurants. Very handy. A bit more resistance than when sipping with a regular straw but not too much where it’s uncomfortable to use.

Personal water filter
Arrived as advertised. I won’t be opening it as it is for an emergency kit but I can say that it is not too big and not too small. Perfect for any backpack or bugout bag!
