Alright so I have very thick/wavey hair I have tried everything under the sun: gels, clay, moose you name it none of which did me any favors. Thankfully I discovered pomades, I started using Dax and then Murray's Superior however I realized while using Murray's how much better Dax was as a whole idk whether it is the ingredients or what but Dax styles my hair much cleaner and neatly than Murray's. I usually cut my hair short on the sides and long on the top which I usually part to one side. When using the product I apply a moderate amount to damp hair and style as desired and it will hold for almost the entire day and the scent is great as well. And for everyone complaining about it not washing out this is a very heavy hold pomade and this should be expected so it could be that you are putting waaaay to much in your hair. Overall I would recommend those with thick hair to try Dax however this might be too extreme for those with fine/straight hair.

Dax is my personal favorite of the oil based pomades that I've tried. That list includes Murray's, Black & White, Lockhart's, and Royal Crown.All of those brands are quality products, and each has pros and cons based on you hair type, how you want to style, your environmental conditions (humid? cold?) etc., but for my fine, wavy hair Dax has great hold, just the right amount of shine, and a subtle, pleasing scent. Plus, the price doesn't break the bank. What else do you need?There are many reviews complaining about how hard it is to work into your hair and rinse out. Dax Wave and Groom is a heavy hold, oil based pomade. It's not designed to rinse easily. However, I can give you a tip to help make it easier to work into your hair:Simply fill your sink with about an inch of hot water and let the can sit in it for a few minutes. The product will become warm, soft, and workable while still retaining its hold and shine properties.That technique works with any other pomade as well, but you really only need it with Dax or Murray's.

Low shine, high hold. HIGH HOLD. The first two pics are just Dax Wave & Groom the last ones are with Black & White added for shine, the combed down.Application: difficult, I have used plenty of high hold products and this one is the stickiest. I'm using it in the winter so it's very stiff already. I pulled out quite a few hairs while putting this in.Hold: like I stated before, very high hold. I could put each individual strand of hair in place and it would stay where I put it.Shine: low, in between matte and natural. Less than natural, a little more than matte.Smell: like baby powder, same as Dax Neat Waves.
