What excellent storytelling and acting
Just when you think you know “who done it”, you quickly find out that you don’t, and every-time you think you are sure of something, you are sidetracked (well in most cases) and you are kept in perpetual suspension. The show is very clever and devious, and you get to see humanity as it is, as well as an excellent portrayal of a bonafide narcissist - Patty Hewes. I’m not sure if Glenn Close fully realized at the time that she was acting a narc, but she sure did an amazing and convincing job with the evil facial expressions, the outbursts, the manipulation and gaslighting. She also knew how to portray someone who is really hollow and whose sole reason for living is her work, because without it everyone would see that there is nothing there. After seeing GC talking about Patty, you realize what a brilliant actress she is.

Five gold stars... worth the price... for Ryan Phillippe’s impressive bare glutes...
Ok. So. Admittedly it’s only onscreen for literally a second. But you get to see his beautiful booty for the very first time since 1999s Cruel Intentions. It’s well worth the price of purchase. Additionally you get the gorgeous Noah Bean in season one. And Chris Messina is in seasons four and five. You get to see his glutes, too. But it’s not in a nice way. Plus, y’know, you got the legend Glenn Close. And Rose Byrne is superb. And if that wasn’t enough, Zachary Booth is yummy here. Especially after he’s trimmed his tresses. John Goodman also appears. And Ted Danson. And William Hurt. And Timothy Olyphant. And John Hannah. It’s all terribly watchable. From season four you get some genuinely meaty cussing. Seasons one, three to five have some splendid subtitles in English. HOH / SDH to boot. There’s also some violence. And drug use/abuse. But, BUT, be warned dog lovers, one of the first season episodes has some questionable content.

Theme!!!!
This series is great. Having never seen any of it I bought because of others reviews, the fact that Glenn Close was leading and of course the price being right. I have to say the series is pretty addictive and it makes you want to watch the next episode and the next etc until you look at the clock and realise it's 2am! The only thing I find absolutely soul destroying is the dreadful theme and whoever came up with that has a real problem!

Not all DVDs are dubbed.
The product was really well packed and in excellent condition. However, only three stars given, as I bought this specifically as I thought ALL the DVDs were dubbed in German, as I find blaspheming very offensive. The germans don't speak like that. As it is, only two of the series were dubbed. I would not have bought the box set, if I had known. My sister is now sending me me a couple of the series from Germany, which incurs extra cost.

American tv at its best (again).
ThE first three seasons of this magnificent series with the great Glenn Close aired on BBC1 a few years ago. They then decided not to show any more American tv imports for some stupid reason. So I have not seen the fourth or fifth. I am truly looking forward to them as the first three were fantastic. Acting, directing and writing top notch.

Excellent series that won't disappoint !
Very good box set of series. Damages is addictive and Glenn close really makes the show. Series 1-3 in particular stands out , however it's short lived as only 5 series produced. You will definately be pleased with the the series. Superior writing !

legal thriller
One of those series you start watching and just have to watch the next episode .Well written with strong performances from glenn close and the cast.I thoroughly enjoyed it right through to the final episode of the final series. Was never totally convinced by the character of Ellen Parsons as the script never really showed her to be as smart a lawyer (sorry attorney !) as everyone kept saying she was.Enough twists and turns and cha,ges of scenery to keep you on the edge of your seat. Was bugged every time I heard the title music as I didnt think it was up to the standard of the rest of the production..Would strongly recommend to any fan of crime thrillers
