Charging yes - Audio NO! Bummer.
Does not work! Ive tried many different earbuds and nothing works. I tried with and without the charging port being used. I played music on my iPhone X then plugged the adapter in, still heard the music, then plugged my earbuds in and NOTHING. I unplugged the earbuds and then...wait for it...NOTHING. The charging plug works but not the audio. Time to try another mfg. Bummer.

Glad I bought this
Works well, music sound quality good and charging at the same time.Update:NOT glad I bought this at all. Be very selective about what music you play. Multi-voice and or mid-high tone instrumentals create horrible audio distortions. To the point the playing song is unrecognisable. ALSO: important, my iPhone 8 does NOT recognize the earphones to be used during phone calls. Iow the adapter is only good for audio not related to calls, and then it is mediocre at best.

It does what it should, very well (looks good too). For all of us who like our headphones sans Bluetooth.

This only works part of the time.
This only works part of the time. I sometimes get an error message that the device is not compatible with my Iphone 7. I plug it in to my phone in my van and it plays fine and then after a bit it stops working so I have to unplug it and plug it in again. I tried using it with a sound system so I could broadcast the music on my phone for an exercise class and it kept cutting out. Overall it it is just disappointing that it is not as reliable as I hoped.It seems to work fine for charging my phone, but if I only need to charge I have no reason to use this adapter, what I really need is something that works as it is supposed to where I can charge and listen to music at the same time. Not that great
These work great as intended to charge and listen to music on an iPhone but the sound quality varies quite a bit. I’ve used brand new Sony earbuds with it and there’s crackling no matter how many times you plug and unplug. Also, the controls (double and triple clicks) on the earbud don’t work the same as with just a lightning adaptor. Sometimes they don’t work period. Also, I can’t make calls because the mic doesn’t work!One last thing, and this might The on the iPhone, but sometimes the sound doesn’t switch to the earbuds. You have to cycle between plugged and unplugged to get it to work.

Do not buy if you want to take calls on your iphone8 with this
I hooked up my iphone8 to the aux connector in my car through this and while the audio worked fine for music and podcasts, the phone call audio did not work at all, and i had to go to speaker phone. I tested with a straight lightning-to-audio connector and that worked fine for both music and calls.Do not buy this if you want to accept calls in your car through the aux audio connector.
