Great monitor for productivity
I searched and reviewed monitors for quite some time before selecting this one, and its perfect for my use case. I typically use it for productivity tasks where I can view multiple files and websites at once. I don't use it for gaming. While reviewing I found there are just so many monitors available it can be overwhelming, so I've listed out the main reasons why this monitor stands out.1. IPS screenGreat viewing angles. I purchased a Samsung 34" but those are actually VA panels, so on a widescreen unless you sit far back, you will get a lot of distortion when looking left and right since the monitor is so wide. So IPS is really a must have for widescreen monitors and this one has it.2. ResolutionThis is a complicated topic. While on Windows you can change the scale (different from the resolution), this is only supported for certain monitors on a Mac and appears as scale rather than resolution (they munge both together on Mac). That means with a 4k screen if scaling isn't supported for your monitor, everything is insanely tiny and unreadable on a Mac. While you can get some programs that hack to try and support scaling, it seems to be hit or miss and they might stop support in the future. So on a Mac the resolution of this monitor is HD and is actually perfect for me, not too big and not too small being HD resolution. I also got a QHD 34" before this and text also is quite tiny, and if you change the resolution to HD, it looks quite bad since it isn't the monitor's native resolution. This is HD natively, so everything looks good at that resolution. If I had Windows though I might consider going for a higher resolution monitor and use the scaling function, but then the price rises dramatically. Basically HD for this monitor is 2560x1080, QHD for the same size is 3440x1440. They don't seem to make 4k 34" but LG has a 34" 5k that would be 5120x2160. That one does support scaling on Mac however but it is very expensive.3. Adjustable stand w/VesaThe monitor stand is adjustable so you can change the height. However I did find the platform sticks out in front of the monitor quite a bit so I'm purchasing an arm instead. It does support Vesa though so you can add your own which is a must.4. BrightnessThis monitor does 300 cd/m² which is typically brighter than anyone would want to look at. There are a lot of monitors in this price range that only do 250, which may be too dim.5. SpeakersWhile not a must have, I was surprised to find the speakers to actually be quite decent and not as obtrusive as having left and right computer speakers.6. Form factorThe bezels are quite thin and the monitor overall has a sleek and minimalist look. I don't really like the stand but it is definitely sturdy and handles movement very smoothly.

This thing will take your breath away and keep doing it every time you walk back into the room.
I'm a little overwhelmed. I'm a computer "guru" when it comes to tech specs and hardware and what have you, but I've always just kind of "skimped" on monitors because they were always very expensive components (and after getting hammered with a video card, if you're a poor boy like me, you just do with what you can). An old colleague, professor, and very good friend gifted me with a 27 inch monitor years ago and I thought "This is it. This is the pinnacle of monitors." Never had want or need of one again.. until recently. Long story short, got a dim spot in my favorite 27" monitor and just "lived with it" for as long as possible. Finally broke down, read reviews, compared monitors, blah blah, and found the LG monitor a few #'s before this one (as this one had very few reviews). Nearly went with it, but decided to "gamble" and got this one.Astonishing. Breathtaking. I can't believe how much bigger it is, how much brighter it is (I even dimmed mine by about 20% because it's SO vibrant), how much more crystal clear it is, it's literally my favorite thing about my PC now (a PC that I've built over several years, with the best processor, the best memory, the best hard drives, the best video cards, you name it). I just can't get over it. It's like having an entirely new computer.Games look better, movies look astounding, YouTube looks better than Dish/Cable TV! Netflix/Jessica Jones season 2 is just.. bonkers. And every time I come into my office and I look at my desk, that was once half filled with a 27" and now 100% full to the brim with this crazy ultra wide. UGH it's just to die for.Kingdom Come: Deliverance with the 90 FOV mod is just o_O WOA. It can do the 100 FOV but it looks more realistic and I mean REALISTIC with 90.I can't say anything more. This monitor is brilliant. Someday when I get a bigger house and a bigger desk, I might by a 2nd one. 100000% recommended to everyone!

Amazing for Home Office Use! No regrets except not having bought this sooner!
I went from a 27 inch secondary monitor to this and the extra real estate is like having another monitor screen, in terms of productivity and multitasking. I do a LOT of Office Suite type work, in small font, and the text and the images are crisp even for my increasingly middle-aged eyes. I am very pleased about this purchase and it is life changing in terms of saving my time and lowering my frustration level around navigating windows.Because I saw a negative review around video, I popped onto Youtube and Netflix to take this for a spin. I thought the sound was fine, but if you want Bose speakers you should definitely do that separately. Really, no complaints whatsoever. And I might not be a tech nerd, but my brother who works in IT who happened to be over while I set this up, was similarly impressed at the quality of the picture and assumed it was more than 1080p to accommodate the size of the screen. Nope! What a steal. Thanks for another winner LG!
