this is part of our energy library. as far as books on off-grid solar (as opposed to just the 'off grid' chapter in other books) go, this is the best one on the market that we've come across so far. it features are good amount of overlap with the related grid connected solar electricity systems book, but that's to be expected.

It gives the basics of designing stand alone solar electric systems for home applications or small systems, with valuable hints on the selection of materials and system's components.Recommended

Heute jedoch, wenn es mir schlecht geht, muss ich Fellinis Filme anschauen. Er zieht mich in seine Geschichten, in seine Szenerien hinein, und ich vergesse meinen Kummer.« Diese Zeilen schrieb Senta Berger in ihren Memoiren »Ich habe ja gewusst, dass ich fliegen kann« über Fellinis »Otto e mezzo« (1963), und (fast) dasselbe kann ich über die Filme Almodóvars sagen. In Fellini habe ich mich meist nur in der Theorie verliebt. Die Geschichten lesen sich prima, szenenweise berauschen einen die liebevoll-verspielten Bilder — aber als großes Ganzes finde ich sie meist wenig packend, manchmal sogar ermüdend. Vielleicht ist es ein Generationskonflikt, ich bin mir nicht sicher. Pedro Almodóvar jedenfalls packt mich seit über 20 Jahren immer und immer wieder aufs Neue. Der erste Film, den ich seinerzeit sah, war »La ley del deseo« (1987), gefolgt von Átame! und »Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios« (1988); ich glaube, Arte brachte damals eine kleine Reihe, 1995 oder 1996 muss es gewesen sein. Ich krachende Sexualität, die aus den Filmen sprach, der Anarchismus, die liebevolle Zartheit, die völlige Angstbefreitheit, wenn es um das Melodramatische geht, das Kitschige, das Überbordende — der Hammer! Die neueren Filme, quasi alle seit seinem Riesenerfolg mit »Todo sobre mi madre« (1999), finde ich leider meist zu zahm und überkonstruiert, doch selbst der schlechteste Almodóvar hat (mindestens) eine Sequenz, eine Szene, die so überwältigend ist, von solcher Schönheit und Esprit, dass sich der Film auf jeden Fall gelohnt hat. (Um es kurz klarzustellen: Der Mann hat nie einen wirklich schlechten Film gemacht.)Almodóvar sagte einmal, dass im Grunde alle seine Filme Variationen von Hitchcocks "Vertigo" seien. Unter diesem Gesichtspunkt tun sich ganz neue Kinowelten auf!

This is a good book for someone brand new to solar and considering having an off-grid system installed.I bought this for a work project to learn more about solar setups for off-grid use and I was a bit disappointed it was not very technical. My background is Mechanical Engineering, not electrical so I wanted something not too technical that I can't understand it, but detailed enough to be able to use as a reference book.It still contained a lot of good introductory information - but I had it read in a weekend and doubt I will really refer back to it much for anything. I'll likely look for a more advanced text to get what I was hoping for.specifically, I wanted more detail on charge controllers and inverters, which I found a bit lacking for my needs.But, yes, I would highly recommend this to someone brand new to solar power.

This book is a very simple papers for small users and not for profissionals I do not recommend it at all
