NauticalMartHandtooled Handcrafted Faux Leather Pickelhaube Helmet w/Spike

mine was a dull finish. so I waxed and high buff shined it. now it looks like an officer would wear it. it is well made of good leather. my only complaint would be the strap rings. without pressure on them. they pop off. the ring holes are to big. I have an original WW1 German 1916 helmet. they pop off of the posts on that helmet also. not really a problem if it's going on the wall. it does run on the large side for the bigger heads. the spike is spun sheet brass. that slides onto a slightly smaller brass post. it is one piece. not like the two piece riveted original. it's a great wall hanger. or costume topper.

I purchased the Pickelhaube, because I have a picture of my Grandfather in uniform wearing a Pickelhaube.The package arrived on time, in very good condition, the first thing I noticed, when I unpacked the Pickelhaube, was the smell of leather.I did put the Pickelhaube on my head, it seams small, but it fit, but that's not why I purchased it.

Used as a prop while teaching WWI. Students enjoyed trying it on and passing it around the class. Very solid piece.
