Is this or is this not absolutely 100% wool with NO other fibers in it? ? ?

A simple test is to take some plain bleach (which is one of the ONLY tests that is guaranteed to give you results 100% of the time) and snip off a small bit of the yarn. Take a spare jar (maybe from pasta sauce or jam), pour in some bleach, stick in the yarn, and wait. Wait for perhaps 10-15 minutes, and then come back; if the yarn is totally gone and the bleach is milky, it's 100% wool. If the bleach is milky and most of the yarn is gone, it's mostly wool (or another protein fiber) and also some synthetic. TL;DR, if it's a protein fiber (wool, alpaca, angora, qiviut, etc.) it'll dissolve in bleach. 100%, all of it will be gone. If it's only partially protein, only part of the yarn will be gone. But if there's any protein at all in the yarn, it will dissolve and make the bleach milky. Whatever's not protein won't dissolve.

what size crocheting hook do you use

In my opinion this yarn is very versatile and can handle many different hook sizes and gauges. For a stiff tight dense fabric I would suggest a 4.0mm and moderate tension, whether working in double crochet or single this size will give you tight precise stitches. For a more draping and airy fabric move up to a 5.00/5.5/6.0mm hook. Since this yarn has so much air in the ply I would use a tighter tension to avoid a loose stitches. I also use a 6.00mm hook for items that will be felted. Keep in mind that the structure of a knit and crochet stitch are not similar, so a larger size hook will be necessary to achieve similar drape than specified on the yarn label. I hope this helps!

I have a pattern that calls for Paton's classic wool yarn. Will I get the same results with this brand, as it is also a worsted weight?

The patons “worsted” is pretty thin for a worsted. In my case I wouldn’t call it an even swap. Also check your gauge, that’s the best way to go and adjust your needle size accordingly. Even if you use the same yarn you might not get the same results.

Good pure wool yarn

Good robust wool. Reasonably soft but not like merino obviously. Great for outerwear sweaters and jackets. Knits well on a 6mm needle as well as the recommended 5.5mm

Perfect for use

Alot of shedding

This is soft and strong wool. It is not rough. Looks very natural. Sadly it sheds a lot of fibres. But great for gloves.

This is excellent value for money but honestly you need to be a wool lover the yarn is a truly beautiful colour and the weight of the yarn is very versatile but it’s not so soft I bought it and I have yet to find a project to match it because it’s just not soft so sorry to say Lionbrand is my favourite brand but this one is in the too hard basket

Pure laine vierge constituée de 4 brins mais assez molle. Le n° d'aiguille indiqué me paraît excessif, je pense qu'il vaut mieux tricoter avec du 3.5-4mm. Il est probable qu'après lavage, le tricot va se détendre beaucoup. A voir. Je corrigerai mon commentaire une fois la laine utilisée. Made in China...
