Fixes damaged ski with minimal effort
Used to repair two deep scratches in my skis looks good hopefully it will last another season or two. Dec 2019 update: it works and looks great but it will eventually come out and you will have to reapply. I got 5 days of early season sking in before it started to come out. was easy to fill the parts that needed to be repaired again

Great product
This is a great product. The PTEX candles are thicker than most I have seen on Amazon and the metal scrapper and scotchbrite pads were a welcome update to my ski maintenance kit. I used this product after hitting a few rocks in Vermont last week, and my ski bases look great!

Great formula that is durable and blends well
First a special thank you to Dr. D at RaceWax for excellent service as always. RaceWax has done a great job formulating their P-Tex and it "camoflages" beautifully with the existing base. When properly scraped with the provided metal scraper and series of pads I found it difficult to find the original gouge after waxing and brushing. A few tips to ensure success: leave small scratches alone, unless you are a racer you only need to repair the deep ones. Be sure that the area to be repaired is clean and dry, hold the candle as close to the base as possible without extinguishing the candle or burning your base, allow the P-Tex to fully cool before scraping, when scraping start in the middle and move outwards, scrape well enough so that the drops are no longer visible, and make use of the pads provided to blend into the existing grain pattern. If you can still see the drops of P-Tex around the gouge it means you have not scraped enough. Finally, don't panic if you can still see a small trace of your repair before waxing, if you use the proper waxing method (hot iron with a good base prep and top layer wax) this should nearly vanish after brushing.

Fixs, and fits well.
I ended up accidentally scraping my skis really badly over some gravel, the repair kit helped me get it fixed up really quick. It's simple, and the repair kit comes for everything a beginner needs. The repair that I did held up for multiple rides, and is still holding up.

Very good ptex
Just used it for the first time. It keeps a good blue flame without using a blow torch. It also keeps a good consistent drip and doesn't start "running" a few seconds after being lit. The buff pads are a nice touch also!

sufficent
The base ski repair kit: with 10 black ptex + metal scraper + buffing pads is good for intermediate skilled repairs, while not professional grade it works for a majority of do it yourself repairs.

Easy Cheap & Durable
Easy, cheap, and durable. My repair has lasted a full season so far, and looks as good now as the day I made the repair. The process is simple. If you would rather have a black stripe across your graphics than a gouge this is the way to go.
