Cezanne

it is a large book.....9 1/4 x 12 1/2".......it has 600 pages.......there are color photos of art work and a lot of writing also. I wish there were more color photos of art.

The clumsy, poorly written text in the first few chapters is almost impossible to read. Since it's so disjointed and quotes too much from Cezanne's personal letters or from other writings, I skipped over a large portion of this. I was also surprised that the authors tried to make Cezanne into some sort of religious deity, rather than a master of his art; it could be marketing hype accompanying the show, but Cezanne's work speaks for itself. In spite of these flaws, the painting and sketches are wonderfully reproduced, and the accompanying description is pretty good. But because the accompanying description is always laudatory and doesn't adequately talk about his mistakes, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between Cezanne's masterpieces and his OK work. The best part is learning what other artist, such as Monet and Matisse, owned what Cezanne painting (and then trying to speculate on why they liked a painting so much).

I am just starting to deeply explore Cezanne's works and this book is awesome! The print quality is super, and I am enjoying both the art and the text. It is a huge book, and will bring pleasant exploration for years.

It might have been new but all of the book’s pages were damaged. Almost like it was dropped on a corner. A misleading new rating.

To really understand modern painting, read everything you can about Cézanne; he started 20th Century art. This man dealt with and developed the concepts which brought the world Fauvism, Expressionism, and Cubism. He wasn't satisfied with Impressionism and pushed on. The struggle and the discovery are in his works. .

I bought it second hand and it was in excellent condition. Really pleased with it. It's a large heavy book andit was well worth the money.

Exhibition book, essential for anyone that missed it at the Tate. But I am biased, I love Cezanne, and this does him honour.

Very nice book with many paintings and every Cèzanne fan must have. I am very happy with this book because I never seen so many pictures of Cèzanne paintings.
