Size:5/8" Length Set Screws are commonly used to secure an object within or against another object, such as securing a pulley or gear to a shaft. These set screws are Headless Screws which are commonly called Blind Screws or Grub Screws. These headless screws comes with a Hex Socket in which a Hex Allen Wrench is inserted for tightening and loosening of the screw. Set screws are also used in applications where a flat surface is important, such as handles, grips, surfboard fins, and furniture or machine assembly.

The perfect size for an AR takedown pin spring retainer.
4-40x1/8" is the perfect size to tap the rear takedown pin spring hole on an AR. You have to clip 1/8"-3/16" off the spring, but you can now remove the buffer nut/plate on a carbine or stock on a rifle without losing or bending the spring.

Did the job.
Used these on an Aero M4E1 build. Worked wonderfully! Will definitely buy again.

Cannot be tightened -- holes inside the screws get rounded up rather quickly and effortlessly.
Once you want to tighten in the socket screw, the hex key wrench included starts to spin. The problem is not the wrench, but the hex socket in the screw, it tends to not be able to take a bit of force to tighten in a screw. A bit of force it tends to round up inside and you cannot tighten it anymore.I took out my caliper and the hex key wrench is exactly 3/64". And using an amplified magnifying lens, I can see that the holes in the screw get rounded -- might be the stainless still coating or something?I've got other #4-40 socket screws (by a different company/brand) and I can tighten those without an issue with the same hex wrench. So I think there is something defective on these screws. So far 3 out of 10 (that I've tried) have this problem. I don't doubt the remaining 7 will have the same issue. :(I needed them to be stainless steel, since these screws may get lots of contact by hand sweat/moisture. This is why the other screws that I have, I could not use, since they are the black oxide versions. :(So if you want these screws to hold something tight, look for something else.

Works as advertised.
Small doesn't begin to describe these.Used on my rear takedown pin, perfect.10 in the pack so plenty to spare, or replace if you drop one.Tip to help hold it on the wrench when installing. Put a small piece of plastic, like from a take home bag/baggie/Saran Wrap, on the end of your wrench then insert it into the set screw. This will hold it in place and you won't drop it as easy.

Exactly what I needed!
Perfect fit on my Aero Precision M4E1 stripped lower. Cut 1/8" off the spring and installed. Takedown pin works as it should. Now I don't have to worry about installing or removing the end plate and having a spring fly across the room.

Well formed threads without any burrs.
I purchased these to retain a spring and one of the common themes that I have seen on similar set screws are poorly formed threads or tips. These set screws have very smooth threads along with nice tips and socket.

excellent cup screws
Worked perfectly for my needs. Included hex wrench is a bonus. Plenty in the bag in case you lose one or two. Recommend.
