Does exactly what it says it does. It cleans up background mush that is going on in the computer and sends out jitter free output to a D/A converter. Also useful to send over a home network, if you use one, to a remote D/A converter. It still works with no degradation in sound quality. As PS recommends, use a high quality USB connector (e.g. Audioquest Carbon 0.75m length). As you may assume from the price, there is no point in getting one unless you have high quality components in the rest of the chain (D/A converter, headphone amp or amp and speakers). Nor need you bother if you just listen to headbanging material. If, like me, you had doubts about the claimed superior quality of computer audio, especially over USB rather as opposed to SPDIF, then your doubts will be wiped away. Benefits most noticeable with Hi Res files or Blu Ray audio discs played from an external laptop Blu Ray player. Highly recommended in quality systems and hours of fun comparing different routes to audio perfection.
