Nothing screams american history like the rail road. Many generations of americans depended upon the rail road to take long distance trips without the long arduous and dusty roads traveled first on horse drawn, then engine powered carriages. The rail was the only practical way to travel to distant and wonderful places. The passenger rails are a shadow of what they once were, replaced by jet liners and super highways, yet the memories remain of sightseeing and relaxing in the passenger car of the rail service. This image reflects the interior of the passenger car, built around the turn of the century and servicing passengers for decades.
