Johnstone'S Trade 5 Litre White Joncryl Water Based Primer Undercoat

Very impressed with this trade primer undercoat. Covers very well and despite being thick it flows well. Easy clean up of tools. Dries quickly. Seen here on a shed thats been boarded out with dark 9mm plywood. Used Johnstones trade aquagaurd durable satinwood for top coat on plywood and the finish is fantastic. Just bought another 5L for upcoming tasks

This is a MUST HAVE for your house painting project. Start every wall with any imperfections whatsoever with this product. Covers problems up really effectively... if you removed wallpaper so try to get the glue up as much as earthly possible (use piping hot kettle water in a pressure sprayer with some vinager and a couple tablespoons of baking soda... spray and leave for a few minutes to let it soften up glue, then scrape off as much as possible then spray again and go over with a big fat absorbent 🧽 sponge like the emoji one those work amazingly well and wipe off the remaining glue... depending on the the glue might take a few passes it’s a real pain in the arse).This will cover up any glue you missed with ease. Fills holes (like from nails etc) smoothes ridges levels out uneven surfaces connects small trim gaps between two pieces of trim or board etc etc. This really helps cover up existing colors you are going to paint over especially bold and hard to cover colors. This fills in chips and cracks it just really really prepares the wall for your paint to go on as smooth as earthly possible. I realllly recommend this product it was a real help with my diy painting of my entire house.

Go to under coat for wood and pretty much anything else I decide to paint from horses heads(wallmounted) to garden ornaments I find it pretty much does the trick it's not smelly it dries fast gives good coverage and goes a long way.This is the under coat my Mum always used.Also liked the large sized tin and the speedy delivery.

biggest dislike is the plastic lid how difficult is it to get off. especially when you need to do so on multiple occassions.used a screw driver and in danger of destroying the lid now using plyers to get a purchase. hopefully i can use the paint up before lid fails!!!how bad is this to be talking about the lid when it should be all about the paint.

Have been using as an undercoat and primer for all kinds of projects and still got plenty left. Used on doors, walls, ceilings, skirting boards. Easy to apply, dries fast. Can't complain.
