Tung-Sol 7581A, Matched Pair (2 tubes)

Made my amp brand new again. Actually, better. I've tried all the fancy EL34 and 6L6GCs and these have the sweetest sounding clears to my ears. Great seller. Just ordered a preamp tube from them, today.

Love these tubes! I had to set the bias a little hotter. I have them in my highly modded Blues Jr., with all the BillM mods including conversion to 6L6's. I was using Ruby 6L6GC and the 7581A's have a bit more headroom and much smoother breakup. Put a pedal in front I had get superb rock tones ala ZZTop, Credence, as well as R&B cleans and smooth and round country licks.

I have an AR D-90 amp that is quite modded and have had it since 1993 along with other high quality amps. including SS amps. Over the years I've tried different output tubes in it but these are the best yet. Power! Punch! Detail! I have a 24' x 30' listening room and this amp drives my Snell AIII speakers real nice. (completely rebuilt) The bottom end is a house shaker and the detail is fantastic. (25Hz is fun) This amp is nothing like the original D90s, much improved and this tubes are the icing on the cake!

Replaced Groove Tubes GT6L6's in a 68 custom vibrolux biased to 64mv (60 is on the spec sheet around 54mv when I replaced the GT's) and the results we're expected. The amp remains crisp and well eq'ed with no microphonic rattle very low noise with equal gain to 6L6's. Not a compliment as much as and observation, each time I replace a GT the amp has less hiss or hum at idle. The sonic differences in tone etc. are debateable but regardless these also kept the amp clean at 5.5-6 volume with virtual vintage pickups. packaging was questionable at best, one box was crushed.

Very clean sounding alternative to 6L6GC's. Also higher power rating, 35W vs 30W. I bias them as 30W tubes.
