Cyano Solution!
Was having a terrible cyano outbreak in my nano tank. Thought it would go away with lots of maintenance and water changes, but never could get rid of it after many months of battling it. Chemiclean worked in a few days and so easy to use, I'm totally amazed. Chemiclean rules!

Works really fast and really well! I recommend it as long as you follow instructions
I have been battling sheets of slimy black organic matter that I thought was algae for years in my 15 gallon column. The bioload is low 3 black skirted tetras, 3 neons and 1 betta and I have been losing bottom feeders like Cory Cats and Snails over and over. I have cleaned the tank, I have changed water, used anti-algae chemicals to no avail. I was doing research on the internet and came to be suspicious that it may not be algae but instead cyanobacteria. After doing further research I found links to this product. I thought at this point, I have nothing to lose and sprung for it. After the product arrived, I was reading the instructions and it said "make sure to increase oxygenation in tank". I was not sure what this meant so I called the number on the box and...."GOT A LIVE PERSON!". He told me that it would be a good idea to get another pump and large airstone and circulate more air into the water as what this product basically does is take the oxygen out of the water. He really knew his stuff and was super friendly. (He recommended I also try some Chemiclean Green once this treatment was done in my filter which I also got and it worked great! Another review) So I rigged up another pump and airstone. Followed the directions based on the size of my tank and put the powder in. Within 20 minutes the sheets of slime were coming off my plants (see pictures) and falling off by 48 hours 90% of the dark stuff was gone. Stuff that I used to have to scrub clean only to come back in a day. I did the recommended water change and so far 3 days later the tank is cleaner than it has been for years (see picture) I am going to probably hit it with another dose in a month (per instructions) and see how it goes. I usually wait a few weeks before giving a review but this stuff worked so fast and so nicely that I had to post. Also the guy I spoke to at Chemi Clean was super nice and very easy to work with. The fact that I got a live person that knew his stuff says volumes about the company. Highly Recommended!!!

Worked... for the most part
I purchased this to cure what I thought was algae (and after research determining it was cyanobacteria) in my 40 gallon, heavily planted freshwater tank. I followed the instructions by removing my charcoal and chemipure as well as keeping my airstones on all day (usually turned off during the day while CO2 is injected). The instructions say to do a 20% water change after 48 hours and put the charcoal back in. Unfortunately, due to my schedule, I couldn't do a water change until 72 hours later. The first 24 hours I saw no change at all (expected none) and even after 48 hours I saw no change (I expected something). However, at the 72 hour mark, I could visibly see the cyanobacteria "stringing" and becoming less dense. Now, at the 5 day mark after administering the checmiclean, I see very little remnants of the bacteria. I think that the instructions should say (and the reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars) to try to remove as much of the cyano as possible before treating. I have a feeling that if I had removed it as much as I could (which I did not, thinking that the Chemiclean would get rid of all of it) that I would see absolutely no signs of it rather than seeing some small remnants that I see today. On a side note, I see no visible changes or affect to my fish, invertebrates or plants which is great!

If all else fails, its okay to get some help.
PROS: * Works. As promised. Full stop. CONS: * None that I can identify. USE: Directions are fine (for me). But perhaps they could redesign them to make more prominent the first step since it appears many people have problems understanding that they need to increase aeration during treatment. I purchased ChemiClean as part of a bundle of disaster-preparedness supplies. Phase 1 was managing out-of-control parameters, feeding practices, and manual removal. My parameters weren't fluctuating and were relatively stable during the outbreak period. But that didn't seem to bother the cyano. However, I went to the effort of standard practices of stabilizing water chemistry (all parameters measured within acceptable ranges and held stable), water cleanliness (regular water changes), cut down feeding as well as changing foods. I even manually removed some of the cyanos. I bought vacuums to do this. They didn't work too well due to the gravel size (Caribsea Arag-Alive Special Grade). After a few weeks, I decided to move to phase 2 and try bacterial supplements. I tried dosing Brightwell Aquatic's Microbacter7 as well as Dr. Tim's Waste-Away. I did this for a month according to dosing directions. They didn't make much of a difference at all. Phase 3 was Chemi-Clean. I enabled the aerator schedule to full-time duty around the clock. I removed carbon. After a few hours, I dosed about 1/2 of recommended dosage of Chemi-Clean. In 24 hours the cyano was nearly gone. In 36 hours there was not a trace of it anywhere (visibly). It's been clear of cyano for weeks. I've kept the adjusted feeding cycle and feed types. And reverted the aeration schedule to original programming. I've returned the carbon. It works. While I always prefer natural remedies and trust time and improved husbandry, sometimes you need a little extra muscle to fix an issue. Chemi-Clean worked great and I didn't observe any negative side effects on any of the corals or inhabitants in my tank. To name a few: * Euphyllia glabrescens * Sarcophyton * Zoanthids assorted * Palythoas assorted * Goniopora teal/green and ORA red * Duncanopsammia * Caulastrea * Montipora Digitata * Rhodactis assorted * Ricordia assorted * Discosoma assorted * Stichodactyla tapetum (anemone) * Sand sifting starfish * Clownfish * Six line wrasse * Lawnmower blenny * Green chromies * Peppermint shrimp * Skunk shrimp * Emerald crab * Blue leg hermit crabs * Flame scallop * Turbo snail * Astrae snail * Mandarin dragonet
