there are no instructions.Do I put on the flames so the wood burns, or on the grating so the shavings just get hot?how much would 1/2 page of A4 paper cost?Richard Thompson

Used for the first time on Saturday and althoughiy done it's job the box has warpped and gone miss shape from the cock and is now not useable again total waste of money

It was compact and finished well

To me, it seems that the best value to be gained from this kind of smoking box is when using a gas rather than a charcoal barbecue. With coals, you can add dampened smoking chips and aromats directly to the coals once they've died back to the embers stage. With gas, you get brilliant, easy to control outdoor cooking - that has none of the flavours of traditional, wood-based barbecue, so you have to get creative trying to find ways to add proper outdoorsy flavour. This box helps to add those flavours and allows you to neatly and effectively get creative with wooding, herbs and spices. We've tried this with Jack Daniels oak barrel flavoured wood chips, pine wood chippings, and fresh-picked rosemary and sage branches. We couldn't decide if using the smoking box made a difference versus using the aromats directly on the coals of our chargrill, but it appreciably ramped up the flavour with the gas grill.

Works well and glad to see one of these that actually has holes on the bottom too. many of these just have holes in the lid. I really like the fact that it's in black, others I have that are chrome finish you seem to spend ages try ing to clean them up like new. This is far more functional from a use and cleaning perspective.Smoke that fills the BBQ. I used a couple of different wood chips and both worked as intended.Also the size of this is perfect for most family sized grills.

The arrival of some decent weather has given me the chance to test this smoker.I like the convenience of a gas BBQ but miss the smokey flavour you can get from a lovely charcoal one. This little box filled with some damp wood chips and put into the body of the BBQ generates lots of lovely smoke and the food from the BBQ absorbs it beautifully. My experience with using a similar one previously is that they tend to last only for one season as they are tricky to clean. But this is also relatively inexpensive (under a tenner at the time of this review) so won't break the bank.
