Transfers and Altered Images: With Acrylic Gels and Mediums

Disappointed
Does the job, I suppose, but the typography and layout are horrible - small, cramped print on big pages, with long lines of text that make reading a chore. Plus it's linked to a specific product range (Golden Artists products), so I feel like I've paid money to be advertised to (if you see what I mean). All in all, I'm not happy.

great content, beautiful images but more like a magazine than a book
I was initially dissapointed with this book, as it is more like a magazine than a book and at just under £9 I expected alot more for my money.I loved the imagery on the front cover and was intreguid to know more about Transfers and altered images.I love to do collages, and mixed media artwork therefore thought this book would be ideal as it advertised as to having exciting techniques, materials, tools and tips to transfer and alter drawuings, photos, words and images onto paper, canvas, fabric, board and plastic. The contents of the book is filled with lovely colourful photographs and samples of work using each different technique. It is seperated into many different sections and the processes in which you need to do to complete each type of transfer. The step by step guides are clear and concise and the photo of each end product inspires you to work through the book and try them all out.I am looking forward to trying each technique out, and experiment with my own work.

Magazine not a book
I bought this expecting lots of inspriration. I was very dissappointed when it arrived as it is a very thin book, more like a magazine. Badly designed, it looks more like a school newsletter than a book. There are some nice images, but you can get most of the information off the internet if you look up Golden acrylic products. Don't bother.

Not what I was looking for
It wasn't what I had expected. I am looking for transfers which I can then paint to make home made cards

I already had this book
I already had this book, but I had bought a copy for a friend. I know she will love it.

Short but thorough
I have several books on transfer techniques but this is by far the best. I was a bit unsure when I saw how slim this book was but it has more information in it than the other books on transferred images combined. This is not a "copy my project" book, it gives you the how to in complete understandable directions and adds ideas on combining different techniques and general ideas for exploration. I highly recommend this as the best book on transfers for the mixed media artist.

Great Ideas
This book offers the kind of detailed instructions I have been looking for. I can't wait to try them! Specific products are mentioned which greatly helps a newbie like me.

Excellent transfer info
Yes, this book(let) is short and Golden products are featured, but it is crammed with beautiful work, ideas, and practical instructions on a wide variety of proven techniques.I had already signed up for an online class before I got this book - but Transfers and Altered Images is better at one third the price. This is like having a friend demo all her great tricks for you!Use another brand of gels, etc., if you want to, but take advantage of Chris Cozen's expertise with this book.

Beautiful art work, but overpriced, glorified catalog
Although this book features some gorgeous art work and creative ideas, I give it only three stars for just that. Otherwise, it is merely a glorified advertisement catalog for Golden products, which was disappointing to me. You can't really call it a book as it is puny and really just a booklet, which I found to be grossly overpriced. This should not sell for anymore than maybe $6 or $7 at the very most.
