Gorgeous!
This 4pc set of Japanese style sake cups are both beautiful and functional! The elegant gold rim adds to the overall aesthetic and they each hold about 2oz. Heat resistant, dishwasher safe and easy to clean! They came nicely packaged and are easy to store in between uses. If you or someone you know loves the culture and/or you love sake…grab yourself a set! I’m glad I did! Great quality…great price!

Bigger and heavier than expected, but pretty
These are described as hot and cold cups for sake and tea. Usually sake cups are very small, as are Chinese gongfu cha tea cups, about the size of a large walnut perhaps. These are considerably bigger, and heavy to boot since the glass is thick. These cups are the size of a tangerine, or about double the volume I was expecting. That's not a problem though, as we sometimes serve tea with larger cups, and these do look nice, if a bit dated. My wife said the gold ribbons in the glass reminded her of glassware from her childhood in the seventies. The overall effect, particularly with tea inside, is actually quite striking though. The rough surface creates interesting refraction and are more interesting than most tea cups. Although they are advertised for hot liquids too, there is nothing that says this is borosilicate glass, and the gold ribbons seem like they would act as weak spots in the glass. As such, I haven't tried putting boiling hot tea in them, just cooler brewed teas like sencha and biluochun.
