Interesting read
This is a lovely book discussing the rituals around placenta care in different cultures and the spiritual meanings behind lotus birth. I would encourage anyone who is considering lotus birth to read this book. It is not so much a practical book on how to care for the placenta, as much an insight into different spiritual beliefs.

Having studied Midwifery in the past, this book has totally changed the way I look at the Placenta. This is a real help for my journey to becoming a birthing doula.

good read for pregnant or not pregnant, for doulas or midwifes
I really like this book, I read it twice and now give it to all my doula clients. Moreover I often recommend to read it before pregnancy to all young women I meet and talk about life and birth. I love this book, I never came across with so much knowledge and experience about placenta. It showed me so many missing puzzles about the natural non violent birth, about my own birth and birth of my children. I ordered it as a gift to my teacher of traditional birth attendant study group. Highly recommended to all who believe in power of birth, who see the birth as sacred event in woman's and baby's life.

Awesome book!
I have read about 20 pages of this book so far and am absolutely hooked! As an indigenous Maori midwife I have found it fascinating reading about the whenua (placenta) and Robin's discussion on the sacredness of the placenta and how the biomedical dominance of childbirth has inflicted trauma upon the infant and placenta, i.e. the next generation. IT IS AN AWESOME BOOK for those health professionals who are trained within a biomedical dominant health system environment, despite being a 'feminist' midwife. Definitely a book to read for those health professionals interested in developing the spiritual and mental aspects of holistic health care. Will wait until I have completely read the book and will do a Vlog review on my Kia Kaha Mama page!

Expandir consciencia
Me cambio toda la perspectiva a cerca de la placenta , la honro muchísimo y en mi experiencia fue bello permitir que mi bebé durara 23 horas conectada a su placenta.
