Holds the most dishes.
I've never found a drying rack that can hold so much stuff. There's just enough space between the bottom shelf and the top that I can slide short things all the way back - Tupperware, short mugs and glasses, etc.I've had one of these racks in white for 10 years or more. After all that time it started looking a little worn/ratty starting to rust in spots, but I had trouble finding another one - or any other design versatile in shape enough that I could hold my biggest pots, or hold the same number of dishes as this one. I held onto it until I finally found one here. This time I'm trying the silver to see if it looks nice even longer. Some dishes will want to fall over if they're near the edge. I put a large plate or cutting board on the end to brace things in the middle. The utensil holder helps. This time I'm getting two - one for each end. They'll help brace things, and I often run out of utensil space with just one.I never had problems with the rack itself collapsing. The "lock" design is fairly simple - the front bar on the base fits into a 'loop' on the bottom shelf. You can see that in the picture. My best guess on collapsing problems is that some of these might ship with a 'loop' that isn't pinched around the bar enough.I saw someone complain they couldn't find a drain tray big enough. I had a hard time, but currently I prefer a Microfiber Dish drying mat underneath. It soaks up the moisture, and is easy to throw in the washing machine when it gets a little yucky. I always hate cleaning drain boards.Microfiber Dish Drying Mat,

Don’t buy , keeps collapsing!!!
Terrible design- this dish rack kept collapsing ! When you open it for use it doesn’t securely lock into itself. I had to tie string to keep it from collapsing!I returned it . Don’t buy!

Nice drying rack
Nice drying rack. It isn't as heavy duty as others we have had, but has not been a problem! The one negative is that both ends are "open". We put a silverware holder on one end, but the other end dishes fall off if you're not careful with your placement.

Replaced a plastic coated metal one that was rusting
Looked for something resistant to rust, looks nice, easily folds up afterwards saving space. Stores quite a few cups, mugs, glasses, and plastic containers on the sides when spread out.

It will only hold a dinner plate upright.
I would not purchase this again. It is flimsy and moves around. And the protrusions where you can put glasses and cups bend out of shape. Most importantly it will only hold a dinner plate upright. It's useless for any plate smaller than a dinner plate. Definitely not worth the price.

Rack-tastic Drying
Been using this for a couple of weeks, and it's worlds better than the plastic or wooden kind. The little loops squeeze your cups in place, so even wine glasses can be dried on the side without falling off. The amount of storage space that adds is huge. Also impressive how flat it folds. To address other reviewers' fears, I haven't had any issues with large plates/bowls tipping over so far (Corelle 10.25" dinner plates and 10" serving bowls seem fine), and to prevent the rack popping flat, I just wrapped some painter's tape around the clip. Wire or a tight squeeze with pliers would also work. For the amount of functional space those cup loops add, it's worth two minutes of precautionary MaCGyver-ing.

Pros and Cons analysis with critical design notes
Positive things to say about this dish rack:1. The large bottom tray is great for smaller items and glasses.2. The cup rack sides are a great design feature and are fantastic for stemware/ wine glasses.3. This is a large rack which will hold a large load if using both the top and bottom trays.4. This is easily stored and breaks down to a slim design.5. This is well coated so no rusting after a few months of use.Negative design elements:1. This rack is prone to collapsing if the bottom rack is not properly weighted. This is the main reason for my 3 star review. This collapsed on us 3 times. My solution was to zip tie the rack together to keep it from collapsing, and even then the smooth wire slipped through the zip ties and it collapsed on me once more. Now, with the rack zip tied, I can no longer fold this up for storage.2. The extra wide expansion makes it sometimes hard to hold plates. You can nestle them in one side, but the other side of the plate is not as securely fixed, so if you are not careful the plate can fall over. This can be somewhat seen in the Amazon product image as the plates are only nested very shallowly.3. This rack doesn't have wider slots at the ends; the wider slots on other racks are nice for pot lids. All the slots are uniform on this design. We have been using this rack for several months. I do like the size, and after making some accommodations to ensure that we load it properly it is mostly functional. However, with the initial collapsing issues, I still don't trust it. Although the sides will easily accommodate many cups, we don't load many cups on the sides since that top loads the rack which causes it to collapse. All things being equal, this is a critical design flaw and I don't think I would buy this again. But with so few good racks out there, we are still looking for one we really like.

I'm happy but it's design does need tweeking.
So excited to get it; been searching for replacement dish rack for years. I’m able to work around it but there is a major design flaw. As stated in several reviews it can’t hold a dinner plate (mine: 10.5 in.). This is because the support bars of the frame, traveling the length of the rack, blocks the dinner plate - smaller plates fit OK. Study the picture, you'll see the smaller plate sits high on the bottom bar & without extra space on the sides. If you saw the dinner plate you'll see it sits too high for the sides to slip into the rack. As one review stated, the stance had to be widened by unlatching the bottom rack, which is designed to hold the rack up, so it can be widened to fit the dinner plate. I now fully understand how tying the bottom rack to the footing allowed it to accommodate the dinner plate but made it unable to be folded down. Because I can adjust it to fit the dinner plates I gave it 3 stars.
