Good book, missing some details though
I got this book for my husband who was wanting to learn how to cook more things than bachelor food. He recently discovered casseroles and I decided to get him this one based on reviews. After making a few recipes from it, we noticed that not all the recipes call for things like salt and pepper and expect you to intuit some ingredients or steps. For a complete novice like my husband, he needs things spelled out for him. Everything he's made from this has been really good and easy to prepare, but if you're looking to get this for someone whose brand new to cooking, make sure they're comfortable enough in the kitchen to add spices and seasoning on their own first.

Yummy Recipes!
I've collected Better Homes & Gardens cookbooks for years, and this one is awesome. It features over 400 recipes that your family will enjoy for years to come. Most recipes feature ingredients that you're likely to have on hand without a special trip to the store. Quick, easy and delicious meals are at your fingertips. The book has suggestions on what cookware to buy and use, and how to freeze casseroles for later use. This is a handy tool when you want to take a "freezes beautifully" casserole to a new mom, a bereaved friend or someone who is recuperating from an illness or injury.I particularly liked the Butternut Squash with Almonds, and can't wait to try the rest of the tempting recipes in this book.

Very nice but salty
The book is beautifully done. Most instructive is the nutritional information. Unfortunately, I'll need to modify recipes greatly. The sodium content is listed for each, and the majority are too high. Examples: lasagna ole at 1163 mg sodium, Asian vegetables and pot stickers at 1038 mg sodium, chicken, spinach and rice at 743 mg sodium, pork chops with scalloped potatoes at 3226 mg sodium and kalamata lemon chicken at 830 mg sodium. It happens that everyone needs to watch salt intake, not only those who have or are approaching the danger zone for HBP. Therefore, for reading and viewing recipes, this is a superlative book. Use caution when using. Such books are helpful reminders of one of the dangers of mindlessly following a recipe. Calories, fat and sugar content are several other matters which, in modern times, need to be considered before feeding ones family and self.

Best casserole cookbook!
My eldest son has been living on his own for a few years now. He's done a lot of crock pot and stove top cooking, and wanted to graduate to casseroles. I got him this cookbook along with some casserole dishes. It's fantastic. It's fully illustrated, has a great variety of recipes, and is beautifully produced. I did my homework and looked at quite a number of casserole cookbooks before choosing this one, and I'm glad I did. Highly recommend!

Casserole Cookbook!!
I've gone through this book and pulled out so many different recipes that I wanted to try. Most of them turned out really good, however like any cookbook you will find some that don't turn out right or are not right for you. Even though I had some bad outcomes I would still recommend this book. They have many great recipes that I have never tried before and many that I would go back and make again and again. This is a great book to have on hand.

Good, but poorly designed.
I had such high hopes for this collection. I LOVE casseroles. I understand the need for grouping recipes. But the index is poorly designed. Having the recipes individually listed under the subcategories would be time saving. Instead, I have to guess which section I might be interested and page through. I find this very irritating.

extensive and yummy
I didn't expect much from this cookbook. Boy was I wrong! Fancy casseroles, breakfast casseroles, deserts, you name it, it's in there. It's gotten me through several potlucks with ease and I expect to get lots more use from it.

Great book!
This is a great cook book filled with many delicious and some unexpected recipes. I would certainly recommend this to others. My only criticism is it is in standard paperback book binding. I would prefer to have this in spiral or coil binding for easier, more convenient use in the kitchen.

Good recipes but ingredients can be hard to find in UK
Hundreds of good recipes, but it's written for the American market. Measures are all in the antiquated Imperial system. There is a metric conversion page at the back, but it's still a pain having to convert. (Come on America, get in tune with the rest of the world! )A lot of the ingredients are pre-packaged products that are presumably available in the US, but I couldn't find them in a large UK supermarket, so a bit of inventive substitution is needed. Other than that, there are a lot of good recipes so it's still a book worth having.
