Doesn't provide the promised instructions nor all colors
What I liked: The designs are cute!Where the kit falls short:This kit claims "...comes with everything you need to get started!" and "...a fully illustrated book with step-by-step instructions and photographs...". Sounds like it should be everything a complete beginner would need! However, the authors completely fail to deliver. They give a few sentences about the fabric, floss, and needle. But, here is the entirety of the so-called instruction on cross-stitching:"When making the X's, make sure that you cross each X in the same direction so that it's consistent. Bring the thread up at A, down at B, up at C, and down again at D."That's it! I've never done this before and I had no clue what to do. They don't define or show A, B, C, or D. There is no illustration or help of any kind. Fully illustrated, step-by-step? Nope! And, depending on whether your next row is above or below, there's a non-obvious move you have to make, so you're constantly having to plan ahead. They also don't explain how to do back stitching on things like on the telephone cord. On each design they have some notes, but it's all text, no diagrams of any kind. I'm afraid the claim of "step-by-step instructions" is a totally false and the book utterly fails to teach you how to cross-stitch. I found a video series on YouTube that helped me get started, but Amazon won't let me share the URL :(.The claim from the front cover is "Includes materials to make Hello Kitty and Keroppi designs". However, that's a half-truth (and wrong: you could also choose My Melody). You only get the needed colors to do one of the four Hello Kitty patterns. It also fails to explicitly mention exactly which color numbers are included, and the floss packs aren't marked. However, here's the list by deduction: 166, 310, 349, 444, 911, 3326, B5200. A lot of pages are half filled here, so it's not like they didn't have enough room to actually describe things properly. Here's a list of the DMC colors you'll need to buy in order to choose ANY project from the book (* denotes that the missing color is used in multiple projects):Project 1 Hello Kitty: Good to go,Project 2 Hello Kitty Love: 3805*,Project 3 Badtz-Maru: 726*,Project 4 Pomompurin: 371, 445, 632*,Project 5 Keroppi: Good to go,Project 6 Hello Kitty Sitting: 3843,Project 7 Hello Kitty on the Phone: 603, 3805*,Project 8 Chococat: 519*, 632*, 722*, 745*, 905*, 911,Project 9 Tuxedosam: 352, 519*, 726*, 959, 3805*,Project 10 Chococat bookmark: Black 14-count aida fabric, 519*, 632*, 722*, 745*, 905*,Project 11 My Melody: Good to go,Project 12 Cinnamoroll: 605, 632*, 702, 891, 996.

Did not include any patterns.
All I got was the cross-stitch kit, including thread, needle, Aida material, and hoop. But there were no patterns!

Good for beginners
It’s very cute. Only downside is that it doesn’t come with all colours that are needed in order to make these. I would recommend that you have your own stash of dmc to make this. It does come with some but it says in the book it’s random colours. But over all very easy to read and to use great for beginners.
