Not so sweet peas.
These grew well in late summer through to late September, far better than the rondo ones planted at the same time but the peas are a bit bland, not sweet. They look like sweet peas tbh and could be grown for the ornamental value but for flavour go for the normal green coloured ones, rondo are very sweet and grow well in springtime.

Prolific pods!
Huge yield - stuffed full pods and very tasty with sprig mint. Now in freezer for later use too - very successful. Plus seed dried for next year!

Easy to pick
People may wonder, why grow purple peas.?When you harvest them the chances are much less that you miss any. Missing peas is important when flower supply depends on the pods being picked is important. It is important , as well that my terrier tends to ignore the purple pods where he is likely to snaffle ripening pods that he can reach. That means I can grow pods over the whole pant rather than the whole plant less the 18 inches the dog eats.
