Aimee
T**.
Not your average summer read - much better and more important
Aimee starts out a bit slow and seems heavy in the introduction. But it is important to digest that early background information. After that, the pace quickens very fast as one brief chapter flows quickly into the next. Aimee has loads of action, (sometimes it is a bit spicy), and a lot of slow building suspense and a very big surprise for the reader at the end. Besides being a good read, Aimee is a serious, but highly readable novel that addresses an important and pressing issue in America today - mainly the effects of early female sexual abuse. The book looks at one of the possible ramifications of the crime. Ramifications that, in this case, go far beyond the disgusting initial act of rape that robs a poor young girl of her youthful innocence and trust. Besides the victim, the tentacles of this crime can affect and sometimes destroy other people, who were otherwise totally innocent and uninvolved in the original crime.
