John Atkinson Baron 100-Percent Merino Wool Heirloom Blanket, Full/Queen, 90-Inch by 100-Inch, Camel

I love John Atkinson blankets. The wool is beautiful, and the overall quality is great! I ordered this blanket for a reduced price as it was described as “used—like new.” There was a comment that the packaging may have been damaged. The original packaging is fine, although it has a number of labels stuck on it and looks a tad shopworn. The blanket, however, is not truly “like new,” as in free of defects. It’s obviously a second, with a number of small flaws, including tiny specks of darker-colored fibers woven into the off-white wool, and a couple of very small spots of what appears to be oil, perhaps from the woolen mill machinery. Apparently, a previous purchaser had returned it, and her lengthy note describing the flaws was included with the package when I received it. Her opinion was that the blanket was defective, a second. This was not disclosed in the original description. Anyway, I have picked out some of the unwanted fibers, and the little spots of oil—or whatever they are, can be minimized with careful spot cleaning. I like the blanket so much otherwise that I will likely keep it. I’ll think about it over the weekend. If I decide I don’t want it in it’s imperfect condition, back it goes to Amazon on Monday—at their expense.
