This was a gift for my cider-making son. He has had it for a year and has made a few batches of cider in that time. I personally don't know anything about the intricacies of the process, but I do know that when he reached out to the manufacturer to inquire about buying a part he broke, they generously sent the replacement as a kindness. That alone deserves a 5 start rating in my book.

Purchased this for my dad and he is thrilled with it. He stated the glass is really nice and thick. I really liked the measurement lines and that was a huge selling point. He liked it so well I have since purchased one for myself...just waiting for him to come teach me how to make some items. lol

I looked at the ceramic crocks for fermenting, but was turned off by a number of reviews citing find cracks in the glaze, and photos of spidery salt trails on the outside of the crocks. I chose this glass jar, which I like because it has quite a wider mouth. I like the lid, which screws on tightly and provides a good seal. It came with plastic venting ports that allow gas to escape from the vessel without letting mold in.It has measures along the side to let you know how much volume is in the jar, though I didn't find that especially useful for my purposes. I just needed something that would accommodate a large, shredded head of cabbage.I'd tried making sauerkraut before in mason jars, and ended up with some mold on top, so wanted something more sealed and safely vented. This fit the bill.I also liked that the clear glass lets you observe the fermentation process. And the little label and pen are useful for recording the date and tracking progress. 🙂 Nice addition to the jar.

Great quality for fermenting. Well packaged. Love the little sign. Pleased with purchase.
