GE Dual Hose Kit for Portable Air Conditioner, Convert Single Hose Portable AC Unit to Dual Hose for Faster Cooling, Easy Install, Compatible With Select GE Models, RAP02, Grey

This works as advertised and improves efficiency of mobile AC units that run around the clock. Our house would heat up during hot summer days, but after installing this kit, the same three mobile AC units keep temperatures around 72-74deg F inside, even during a recent 110 deg F day. The extra insulation sleeve noticeably reduces the radiant heat from the exhaust (hot) air hose as well. Additionally this kit forces the compressor and intake fan noise into the intake hose, so the units became significantly quieter during compressor operation (barely audible now) as well. If you are not afraid of drilling, cutting and screwing in plastic, this GE set can be used to modify other (similarly constructed) mobile AC brands. I modded three differently sized Frigidaire units with the parts from this kit (2 of them are in the pictures). I hope other brands will start offering these kits as well to make conversion of single-hose mobile AC units to two hoses easier. Do not buy used versions of the kit as others seem to take the insulation sleeve and then return the kit without it.

Most of the portables are single hose. This is the only conversion kit out there. One grill ALMOST fits my B&D. I just held it close and trimmed off what got in the way. Gorilla tape covers the rest of the outside/cooler inlet. From there the kit works pretty much like it would for a GE (which it is originally made for). SO WHY BUY THIS KIT? --- Because when you go to the HW store, it will cost you the same thing when you itemize the parts separately minus the convenience.

We had a lot of smoke this summer from forest fires in our area. It was hard to use our GE portable air conditioner in 95 degree temps because we would get smoke drawn in. This works well as it allows us to run the air conditioner more efficiently without the smoke just being drawn in. It took literally 10 minutes to hook it up before using it.

Too expensive, not easy to use, not as effective as I thought.
