Detectorists - Series 3 [DVD]

Watch this as soon as you can if you haven't already. My wife suggested this series to me and it's one of the best things I watched last year. Gentle and perceptive, humorous and warm. beautifully written, beautifully acted and beautifully filmed. Nothing happens but you're swept along by the story. Simply wonderful, I wish I could write more eloquently about how good it is.

Possibly the best comedy I have ever watched, brought box set and watched both series back to back twice, completely absorbed myself in lance and andy's world, long summer days with gentle laughs all the way, fantastic casting and great real life observation writing by mackenzie crook, please please let there be series 3

Just adding my voice to the justified chorus of approval in the reviews of this, the best series in years.This is wonderful feel-good television and probably should be available on prescription.As I watched this the odd thought struck me of just how those who demonise the male of the species forget conveniently there are millions of men out there who act like this bunch and live out their everyday lives and have their small, important dreams.I know Framlingham quite well (where this was filmed) and for anyone thinking of taking a run over there, yes it is like this and yes, it is this good.

This is a wonderful, magical and enthralling programme with the two main characters beautifully matched and their own scenes blend seamlessly into the ensemble pieces. After watching for what seems like five minutes you realise with regret that the programme is coming to an end far too soon. Only one gripe now I've already bought series 1 and 2, I can't buy a stand alone Christmas special one tacked on to series 3.please pretty please if anyone out there is listening. An episode on line doesn't do it for me, it's like preferring vinyl.

I watched this when it was on the BBC the first time around. A gentle British comedy, revolving around the lives of two detectorists juggling their everyday lives with their hobby. Starring Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook who also wrote and directed the series...Recommended.

How utterly hilarious this series is! This was recommended to me by a friend as a Christmas present for my husband. I had never seen or heard of the series before. We have loved the subtle humour and gentle story lines. Utterly wonderful! We want more!

If you watch all three series this one is the culmination of the story so farAndy and Lance are as funny as alwaysWho would of thought metal detecting was so interestingThe series is full of quality acting and tells the tale of the many aspects of detecting and all the typical characters you will meetI personally like the fact Andy is searching for a house and finds that difficult but it all comes right and with a lovely end to the series with help from a magpieI loved the program Mckenzie crook and Toby Jones along with Diane Rigg add so much but it is the actors that are not stars that add to the rich tapestry of the tale.Dirt bandits beware

Every once in a while you come across a gem. Having watched the original series on TV I was hooked. There aren't that many comedy shows that I would want to watch over and over but Detectorists is one of those productions that delivers on many levels and never disappoints. It's not for everyone but the subtlety of both the scripts and the acting make it a pleasure to watch and it is beautifully filmed. Sadly, only three series have been made but then at least, everything is fresh and we are left to ponder on what may have been, instead of enduring progressively worse and worse episodes long after the creativity has been lost.

Such a great show..funny, intelligent and just great.

I love the series but was disappointed when Amazon sent me a copy that will only play in the UK, not the states. I've been able to see it on my computer but am unable to share it with friends on our home screen..
