I bought this brush for cats. The bristles are a little to stiff for cats and the bristles don't have a rubber tip on the end. I think for a very furry dog this brush would be ideal.

i love it!I have a ragdoll adult and a maine coon... that's a lot of hair. I've had metal bristle brush for years and this is what they love.pro: This product, with the feature that retracts the bristles is really great for cleaning it up. You end up with a fur "pancake", if that makes sense. Easy to toss in the trash and not fly away in clumps (like my ragdoll's hair does).- i also love the stainless comb. having large, long-haired cats, this is great to get the brushing closer to the hair shaft (carefully) and lift up the fur. makes you realize what the brush alone was missing. it's also helpful to detangle knots, or isolate knots that need to be cut out carefully.con:- it's a little too wide for my cats and bulky for my own hands. still getting used to it. My old metal bristle brush (w/o the retractable feature) is a lot easier to maneuver. while brushing with this one, i end up hitting the floor a few times if they're lying down, which may startle them.- the button doesn't stay down, so if you tilt the brush upside down to get a different angle while grooming it slides out, down, out, down. The click-clock sound is annoying to the cats, I have to spend a little extra time desensitizing them to these sound 'features'.summary:a little too large compared to easier to handle ones, but once you get the cats used to this big brush, the results are pretty good to keep their hair well groomed.i have a new puppy, but the brush and comb are still too large to tell how it's going to pan out.

I have rated this 5 stars for it's functionality, design, especially the retractable bristles which make it very easy to remove the dog hair. However, I'm not sure my chocolate lab would give it the highest rating. But then again she is never happy with any grooming device unless it is associated with a treat!

The media could not be loaded.  My fur babies need to be groomed daily. This brush works on my poodle’s curly hair and my terrier’s silky hair. Very happy with this purchase so far and the free comb that it came with actually comes in handy for those really tough matts.

The idea of this brush is fabulous because of the self cleaning feature, however, the bristles of the brush of my brush bent after 3 uses. Very disappointed.

The media could not be loaded.  Purchased this slicker brush to use on my dog, she is a poodle/terrier mix and has quite the combination of hair types.It works so well to detangle and I love that it is self cleaning!!!Overall, Great quality and I am so happy with my purchase.
