Got it for my dad for Christmas but will be buying myself one as well!
I gave my dad this book for Christmas and he likes it. I glanced at some of it before I wrapped it up for him, of course, and it has some really good stories about my wonderful state of Washington. I will probably get this book for myself too!

Ghost Summaries
A great number of interesting historical sites are named in the book including the ghost tales that accompany them. As a tourist interested in the paranormal, this is a comprehensive guide to some of the most worthwhile places and areas to visit in the state. Also, many of the excerpts may spark further interest in certain lore and would work well to jump start or inspire several novel-type tales. If you enjoy reading 230 pages of summary, this is the book for you. Although packed with a number of featured places, the details are short and read like a briefing or `account' rather than actually providing chilling or original insight. Each section contains fairly common information that can be obtained through minimal research. I was hoping for more compelling and possibly goose bump raising stories that give some facts or debunking of the paranormal. Instead, it reads more like a quick campfire story. Spook factor is minimal.

Better Stories heard around a campfire
I thought this would be quirky and interesting book to read. Unfortunately, there's virtually no research to validate any story. There's the story of the family who "try as I might, I could not learn the true identity" that got a great deal on a house (because it was haunted of course). Then there are the stories where a couple of months later a neighbor filled them in on the old lady who used to live there, etc. etc.I've heard scarier (and better documented) stories around the campfire as a girlscout. If these stories were circulating around the web site, I'm sure they would be revealed as 'urban legends'.There are much more interesting and better researched paranormal and ghost stories out there than this book represents.

Simple yet enjoyable local tales
My 10 yr old son and I were able to enjoy this book together...it's not too scary, yet it's still interesting to read. We are not native to the Seattle area, so it was fun to read about ghosts in towns and places we have visited or passed through on trips. This is NOT a hardcore scary ghost story book, but it is still interesting in its own way.

I learned that my native state has some interesting stories
I've lived in the state of Washington since the day I was born. Reading this book, I've learned some interesting things about this state that I did not learn in the textbooks I've read in middle and high school. I recommend Ghost Stories of Washington to anyone who likes true ghost stories and want to learn about the ghosts that call the state of Washington home.
