Unique surprise!
I bought this for myself as a stocking stuffer not knowing what to expect. I tried adding it to hot water, but I found that I had a much better experience using a loose leaf tea steeper. Great flavor and a great cold weather drink without the caffiene.

won't melt
Sorry to say, this will not melt into creamy goodness like true ceremonial cacao. It's full of irreducible bits that seem to be ground up cacao nibs. Even putting the hot beverage in a blender doesn't work.

The process is something to play with
My health on all levels is my #1 priority. This being said, I am avid about putting only pure nutrient dense foods in my body. I have been reading about the health benefits of ceremonial grade cacao and I decided to give this brand a try as its reasonably priced and has a good story. Here are the pros:Flavor is not as strong so you don't really need to add much of any sweetnerPackaging is nice and easyMy chest/heart feel more open (even after my first day)Cons:I followed the directions and the melting process is a bit tricky and not easy as other brands. The cacao does not melt and therefore is not smooth its grainy. You have to get use to that as it's recommended to not add boiling water, but even with very hot water it does not melt.I also had to add more than the recommended serving to get some kind of burst of flavor, which you would expect from pure cacao.I'm not saying this is bad, I am just saying you need to finely ground the cacao and play with the heat and find a way to get it to melt to be smooth. It's not an easy process, which is why I am rating this a 3.

Great cacao
Maybe the most delicious cacao that can be brewed in a coffee maker

Twenty bucks in the trash can.
Defiantly not anywhere near tasting like chocolate. Save your money and get free sawdust from your local lumberyard. Would taste the same.

Great Taste, but needs work
This stuff comes as granules and clumps with some powdered dust in the bottom of the bag. The lumps need to be broken up before you can do anything.Brewing with a French Press works well. 2~3 tablespoons of granules with 16 oz of boiling water. But the flavor is not very intense that way.Run it through a coffee grinder until it's powder will get you a much more intense flavor. Two teaspoons of the powder with 6~8 oz of boiling water is nice. I add 1/8th teaspoon of Splenda, but if you want a more traditional Cocao leave out the Splenda. Cocao is not supposed to be sweet. If you want something closer to Coco, use 2 teaspoons of the powder with 2 oz of boiling water and stir, then top the cup with milk and heat in the microwave and add sweetener to taste. It'll taste like Coco made with Dark Choc. But if there you're going to do this, just buy Coco mix. It's cheaper.

NOT a meltable cacao. Not like most ceremonial drinking cacoas - read this!
Just a heads up - they processed this cacao to be brewed like coffee, not to be melted! All the ceremonial cacaos I've made have been made to melt into water or other liquids - they are super fine, creamy, rich, buttery. But NOT this Yogi Super Food style. This one is roasted and ground up cacao bean - it is not "buttery" at all.If you try to melt it, you end up with coffee-ground-like grit in your cup and it is insanely intense. If you're looking for the meltable stuff, don't get this.I did and up brewing it in a French press style coffee maker and it is tasty and rich, but not as thick and buttery as meltable cacao, which I much prefer.
