It does work!
I have used sheep's wool pellets before to try and deter slugs and it does work! It seems to work best when you have a fairly broad strip of the pellets, so for a plant pot, you probably want to surround the plant with the pellets up to the edge of the pot. Anything smaller and the slugs seem to be able to pick their way across. These pellets are really easy to use and a safe and natural way of deterring slugs and snails. Sprinkle a fairly generous layer of pellets around your plant. It doesn't have to be a deep layer but make sure that most of the soil is covered. Water the pellets so they expand and turn into a rough mat, which the slugs find prickly. It doesn't hurt slugs but does deter them and after a few months when your plant has grown big and strong, the mat slowly biodegrades and feeds the soil. The only drawback if if you have a dog or cat, that they might find the smell of freshly watered sheep's wool pellets very attractive (although this does go off after the first couple of waters), and have a good roll or dig in your plant pots. You may then need to think of pet deterrents!

Will be buying again.
We were sceptical whether this was going to work. And to our surprise the pellets have actually deterred the slugs! Safe to use around my dog. It definitely has a smell so I would recommend using a trowel to sprinkle them. The bag goes a long way too. I am likely to buy more when I run out.

Ask me at the end of the season, but so far it is working very well - perhaps we have finally solved the slug problem?

It works. It's the lanolin!
Hoorah! Hoorah!! The slimey b(*(ers have gone...Hoorah! Hoorah!! .... Oh... damn.. I have run out!! No more available!Oh NOOOOO !! They are back .. my potatoes are being eaten alive!Next year I must get TWO sacks.Seriously, It really, really does work. Buy it by the sack as it is quite light and doesn't go that far.The smell of sheep does wear off after a short while.I used it in my greenhouse getting my beans to grow. I topped my spuds in sacks with it when they started getting eaten. Luckily they were fully earthed up at that stage. It stopped my cotswold moluscs in their tracks, quite literally. I have so many at night, you can actually hear them munching. It's the limestone apparently, especially when in the form of dry stone walls.I will order more as soon as i can. I am also going to try raw fleece next year, preferably off the back of a brown sheep.

Slugs still here
I bought the large bag to cover my veg patch and with the current weather being plenty of rain the slugs are climbing all over the pellets as if it weren't there. I wasted my money and now will buy organic slug killer instead.Slug Gone - Organic Natural Pure Wool Pelletts Slug Repellant (20 Litre Bag)

Good Stuff
The most effective slug repellent I've tried in 40 years of gardening, no "dead bodies" to worry about, keeps plants safe and snug and gives them a nutrient boost, plus helping to retain moisture in my sandy soil. Its expensive stuff, and you have to be generous, but so far it's been worth every penny.PS I like the smell of lanolin, others might not, but it is used in the garden, so no worries.

So far so good and it goes a long way further than expected
So far so good and it goes a long way further than expected. I have a large garden (I acre) which opens to the public 8 times a year under the NGS Gardens scheme, so I have a LOT of precious plants many of them first choices for slugs and snails. The acid test will be how it performs next year on the hosta's and liguaria.

Bought a 3.5 litre bag as I have a small garden. However the main driver was the fact they are pet friendly, so my daughters little dog would be safe when visiting. The biggest draw back to these pellets is the quantity required. Following the instructions I used the whole bag just to protect a few bedding plants. At this rate it will cost me a small fortune to do the whole garden. Think I will ban the dog and go back to pellets that will kill the blighters.
