Half Time Microwave / Convection Oven - Stainless Steel

I received a refurbished item but this was not in the description. Item arrived with a small dent in the back. The round pan was a bit warped and had a couple of pock marks in it. No instructions in the box. These are not a big deal if the item is refurbished. I was planning to keep it anyway so they didn't matter. I put foil in the oven on the pan to cook something and used the Convection oven. The foil started to spark. It's not a convection oven so I sent it back. I need to be able to cook with foil because I hate cleaning.

I have previously owned the Half Time Oven and I needed to replace my old one which I owned for many years and used every day to warm up coffee etc. I love the color. The door pops when we open it every time and keeps losing two minutes on the clock. I would buy direct from the maker next time.

I've owned several microwave ovens during my adult life ... one I "inherited" from my mom when I went to college & it had performed faithfully for 15 yrs when I sold it to a friend for $20. Ever since, it's been hard to find a microwave that meets my expectations ... which aren't that stringent ... heat & defrost food without crapping out!!!I had this microwave in my (heated) garage (in the original box) and had used it a few times in my camper. When our most recent microwave oven in our home kitchen went out, we brought this one in.At first, thought it was going to be great, but over the months I've noticed several problems, not the least being that this microwave creates a LOT of condensation when it cooks, leaving the interior very wet. I either wipe it out or leave it open a while after I use it. Other members of my family, of course, aren't that motivated & the microwave has developed rust spots in the interior.Just the other day the turntable stopped rotation. I suspect a broken drive/motor & I'm NOT going to repair it ... I can buy a new microwave cheaper. I will not be replacing the Halftime with another Halftime.Strangely enough, we've had VERY good luck with the microwave we have in out vintage travel trailer ... a vintage-inspired Nostalgia Electrics model. Very simple, just a microwave, nothing fancy (but it IS cute) and cooks great. I may be purchasing one for my home. However, it appears they only make it in aqua or red now (neither of which matches our kitchen) ... so maybe not.

I have owned my half time over for over 3 years and it recently started having issues with moisture which causes the GFI to trip after using the microwave for about 4-5 minutes. (I believe this is due to moisture build up). I absolutely love my half time oven and cannot do without it, so I was in complete despair. I went to Walmart and purchased an Emerson convection microwave thinking it would do the same thing as my half time oven. Wow was I wrong! Absolutely NO comparison. My chicken comes out crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside every time with my half time oven. Every meal has been perfect (except for times when there was a user error with me overcooking something). LOL. I love the fact you can use metal bake ware in convection mode (which you can't do with the Emerson). I used corning ware and tried to cook the same meal in the Emerson and my chicken took 30 minutes longer to cook than in the half time oven and it came out soggy and tasted horrible. That was it for me, I took that thing back to Walmart for a refund and called Apollo for a replacement. I left them a message as I got voice mail and they promptly called me back. We went over the newer models they're now offering and I was advised the moisture issue I was having has been resolved with the newer models. They also had me speak with one of their technicians to see if i could salvage my current one instead of spending money on a replacement if I didn't need it. (Which was great customer service, putting the customers true needs first and considering their finances over just making a new sale)! After speaking with the technician he suggested I try using it on a regular electrical outlet instead of a GFI outlet, thought perhaps the GFI was sensing the moisture and that could be what was tripping the breaker. I thought about it and decided to just buy the latest Ultraspeed 4x model anyways. It has all the bells and whistles including a new grill feature and baking pad, plus it cooks 4 times faster now. I wish they would market this better as its the most wonderful appliance in my kitchen and truly indispensable! Once you try it you will never touch your oven again (unless you want to cook something that's too big to fit in your half time oven). Even if It only lasted 3 years at a time, I would probably keep buying another one..That's how great this idea/product is. I just hope they've really worked out the kinks with the moisture build up.

I tested this unit for a Federal housing project we were developing and discovered it easily replaced my 40 amp electric range, if you keep the turkeys 12 lbs max AND it does all oven cooking on a 15 amp circuit in 1/2 the time. We then tested for replacement of microwaves in a Correctional facility and found it lasted besides working fine; inmates have a tendency of destroying things they don't like but they liked this widget.My conclusion is that it reliably replaced a 40 amp range and cooks in 1/2 the time but I only use it for the oven feature and not the microwave. Note that I use it everyday and have not had any problems.Note that my RV came with one and now my daughter has one as well as two of the three projects we looked at for replacing existing microwave/ovens.
