Brown Senator Wooden Chess Set - Weighted Chessmen 16 x 16

I like this chess set. The pieces are distinctive and the board is very nice. Unfortunately the board had a small chip in it. The Amazon box was perfect but the inner box containing the chess set had a puncture hole in it. I had a grandson who was coming to play chess that day so I took a dark marker and filled in the chip to make it hardly noticeable. The board unfolds to be perfectly flat. The felt/foam that holds the pieces is cheap but I cut a cotton t-shirt to size and draped it over the pieces before I locked and closed it....works fine now. One final thing is that these pieces are advertised as weighted. They do not seem to be ....for they are rather light in weight ...but certainly playable. For the $41 that I paid I do not think I could have gotten a nicer set but I would classify myself as satisfied....not overly-satisfied,

I bought this chess set for my grandson and he loved it.The board is well crafted and looks gteat. This is very giftable and looks like a high quality product. The detail on the chessboard is nicely done. Great gift set, i am very happy with my purchase. Well worth the price.

A really nice set, full of character, for the price. You can see tool marks and some imperfections consistent with a hand made item. The rooks are a bit small, but still nice. The knights are great for an affordable set, they are robust and very attractive. The Kings and queens are really unique but they are similar enjoy to traditional Staunton, no one will confused them. Really nice 3 inch set.bi wish second queens were provided.

I play chess alot and with friends or even home just me and few chess apps I set up the game and move for cpu. Anyway this is special set very nice how pieces look and board is big size nice set thnx

Overall it is a very nice chess set. The size allows it to be comprehensible and compacted. The board is crafted very well and looks great. Great size for travel. Only grievance would be my set arrived with one of the “prongs” on the queen piece missing.

Beautiful. But the pieces are as light as air. Visual quality but I had to buy a different set to go with the board

I purchased this chess set for our granddaughter. Even at her young age she was amazed at the craftsmanship. It is absolutely beautiful. I am thrilled with it and would purchase it again. The craftsmanship is impressive.

This chess set is beautiful. I own multiple chess sets, but this one is the best looking in my opinion. The only issue that I have with it is that the pieces and board are too light. If you plan on playing bullet or blitz chess, I would not recommend this board. It's great for longer games that don't require very fast moves.One of the rooks came with the felt slightly peeled off, but it was very easy to fix with super glue. Sometimes the pieces might catch on the lines between the boards, but it doesn't happen often and isn't too annoying when it does happen (your piece will just fall over).It's a great chess set for the price and I would recommend it if you are just playing for fun and want a pretty looking board.

Pros: This is a solid board. Good solid colours. Small grooves all over the board are a nice touch. No unevenness between the two sides as others have stated. Felt pads on all pieces are aligned and not sticking out.Cons: The padding on the underside that holds the pieces feels real cheap and dont hold the pieces perfectly snug. The pieces themselves do feel a bit light. They also seem a bit dull. Im gonna add some clear gloss to shine them up, but that's something that could've been done during manufacturing. Also wish it was magnetized.All in all its a good set for the price. Perfect for any beginner or casual player.

If you're looking for a high quality handmade chess set I would recommend this to you.I've had the set since 2016 and it's the perfect size, the pieces are a little light, but nothing major and this is just a casual / recreational set. The set (at the time I purchased) was made in Poland.The pieces are stored inside the board when it's folded, there is a plastic with a flet lining that has been molded to hold the pieces.As I mentioned I've had this set since 2016 and it seems to be holding up just fine.Chances are you won't find anything handmade in comparable quality or price range.For the price you can't go wrong.

Beautiful but not weighted.

This is a great chess set, the pieces look beautiful, they are great to admire and feel great in hands. Overall board is a little larger than what I expected but I'm ok with it. The pieces are very light weight, not heavy as you'd expect. If you wanted something weighted then I think you should look for a professional set for over $100. Although this same set sells for around $100 in brick-and-mortar stores.The board itself unfolds into a 16"X16" playing area, which looks great in any setting, even as a decoration piece on your coffee table. If you just want to store it away, you can easily place the pieces back in their slots and close the board back like a small antique suitcase.Overall, I am really enjoying playing on this set and teaching others.
