Great learning tool
My girl (8, ADHD, motor issues) has tried a few beginner/learn to cross stitch kits, but she is still young enough to be struggling with keeping track of a pattern in addition to the process of forming the stitches. These were a godsend. Since they're solid wood, she could draw the design she wanted to make right onto the surface where it would be covered by the stitches, taking out the confusion of trying to remember where the stitches were supposed to go and not losing her place on the pattern every time she looked at the needle instead. They are also nice and small, so the pattern isn't going to take her forever to finish. The second image was about an hour's work.I did wish the holes were a tiny bit bigger - with the full skein of thread provided doubled, the plastic needles included resisted going through a hole once it had already been stitched through multiple times, and we had to switch to a metal yarn needle instead - but otherwise these were pretty much perfect for where she is in the learning to sew process, and if I was still teaching elementary classes I would absolutely buy them for my students. A bulk size rate for teachers would of course be helpful with that, but for a single child learning at home, 6 blanks for $10 is a reasonable size and price, in my opinion.

Fun for a craft to keep someone busy; don't love the wooden cross stitch template
This set is good to keep someone busy for a few hours but i don't love the wooden cross stitch template. It's a bit rigid. the holes are far apart enough to show wood through the thread once the designs are finished.OTHER CONS- No directions included; you're on your own to replicate the patterns on the box if you choose to do that. i made up my own colors- The box is a little misleading. the box only includes hearts and stars but as you see on the box in my photo, they offer patterns for two other shapes, like a butterfly.PROS- they include multiple yarn colors, which is nice for color variety- they include multiple plastic needles, which is nice for safety and redundancy- pretty easy to figure out how to do if youve done cross stitch before

Need YouTube and imagination
Context: I have never done cross stitch, but I do some embroidery. I knew cross stitch involved making x’s and that’s it. My kids and I sat down to do this. I finished two and my kids lost patience with theirs and made a mess. The good things about this product are that it’s easy for a kid to hold - a nice, wood piece, not too heavy or big. The needles are plastic and kid friendly - you aren’t going to hurt your finger. There were six needles - one for each project and after doing two with the same needle, I needed a new one because it was bent and slightly deformed. The holes are big enough to easily fit the needle through by a kid. There is no pattern to follow so you can use your imagination and make whatever you want. The cons: the directions are pictures only and not detailed at all. I had to use YouTube to figure out how to do it. The directions don’t show you how to change color, where to start or how to end a string. The wholes in the frame are big and you need to triple knot your thread to keep it from pulling right through - which my kids did a lot. There’s no pattern on these pieces! As I have never done this, I wanted to follow a pattern! My flower looks very odd to me. The needles are white and very easily dropped and lost. These are supposed to be keychains but the back looks so messy my kids didn’t want them as keychains. Also, there are two sets of three of the same shape - so three flowers and three butterflies. This works if you are using them for party favors (although you won’t have enough thread for that) or if you have three kids doing them, but it’s not like you get six different projects. I guess this is where you use your imagination to do three different butterfly designs. Because it’s designed for kids, the holes and X’s look very big, so the design isn’t as “pretty” as a typical cross stitch.Even though it’s labeled as a beginner set, I think it depends on what you consider a beginner. It was easy for my kids to pull thread through the holes, but they struggled with keeping the thread on the right side and eventually lost patience with it and made a big mess. They are ages six and seven. I think better directions - maybe with the piece of wood labeled would have helped. There are six colors that are supposed to last you for all six projects, but they aren’t precut. So when you go to cut it for a project, you don’t know how much to cut. I have been winging it and there’s not enough thread for all six projects depending on your design.Overall, if you want something cheap to work on threading a needle, pulling thread through wholes, and making x’s, this works. If you want to learn cross stitch with YouTube help and use your imagination, it works to practice with. Personally, I wanted more guidance and a pattern to follow for my first time and maybe it would have helped my kids stick with it too.

Unique craft for kids
Very happy with this kit. You get 6 wooden shapes ready for your needlework. Plenty of embroidery floss. 6 plastic needles so you can have 6 children occupied at one time. Hardware to make keychains is also included. The holes are nice and smooth so there is no snagging on rough edges. Basic cross stitch pictorial is also included on packaging.

Great creative craft for beginner cross stitchers
This is a great little kit for beginning cross stitches and crafters. It comes with 3 butterfly and 3 flower pre-cut wooden forms. The holes are well formed and smooth. It comes with 6 different colors of embroidery floss, six plastic needles, and six key rings. There are no instructions or preset patterns that come with the set. The set is designed more for expressing creativity in the creation of the cross-stitch design. The wood is a decent thickness and is sturdy without being too thick or bulky.

Complete kit, easy for a kid to use.
Got this for my 11 year old granddaughter to use. She was able to master the cross stitch process and finished product looked great. But considering her age, she lost interest in it opting to get back onto her phone and Tic Tok. Kids her age just don’t get into hobbies.

Fun!
These are so much fun to do with the littles. No one is getting stabbed because the needles are soft plastic and bendy. They are small and easy to finish, so they feel accomplished! Lots of fun colors to put on them and the wood is pretty thick so they won't bend or break!
