Don Casey's Complete Illustrated Sailboat Maintenance Manual

I was recommended this book and glad I made the purchase. It has sections covering everything from glass fibre repair work to how an alternator works and how to diagnose electrical problems. A useful reference, if you are maintaining your own boat and haven't done everything before.

This is such a logical and reasonable book. If you are going to work on your own sailboat, this is a must.

This book is brilliant! Very easy to read, with good illustrations, highly recommend! From absolutely beginner to highly advanced sailor. I recommend this book also for someone, who don't have a boat, but planning to buy, as a starting point, so you know exactly what to looking for.

I bought this based on the reviews. There are lots of practical tips, mainly orientated to someone buying a boat. Bit disappointed that it is not comprehensive on maintenance eg winch servicing. However, I found that elsewhere online

Great book if you own and maintain a sailing boot. Well illustrated throughout with drawings, no photos. Six of Don Casey's books in one hardback volume, great value.

This is a must have book for anyone with an older sailboat, or anyone considering the purchase of an older boat. Lots of practical information and will certainly be an asset to have, not only during the buying process but also while you update and maintain the boat. The book has no photographs but has hundreds of illustrations and diagrams. I’ll be buying Don Casey’s other books.

El libro es de para dura y tiene un contenido estupendo y con muchos dibujos explicando todo paso a paso. Si hablas inglés merece la pena comprarlo, sobre todo por la de ideas que da y lo bien que aclara dudas de mantenimiento, electrónica, motor de barco, etc. La verdad es que me ha encantado y lo voy a usar mucho con mi barco del 1978.

Als Eigentümer eines alten Segelbootes hat sich bei mir mittlerweile eine recht umfangreiche Bibliothek zum Thema "Wie halte ich den Pott am Schwimmen" angesammelt. Aber wenn ich mich von allen diesen Büchern bis auf eines Trennen müsste - "Sailboat Maintenance" von Don Casey wäre für mich das Buch, welches ich behielte! Gutes Englisch vorausgesetzt, gibt es kein Thema, welches nicht in diesem Buch anschaulich behandelt wäre: von der Inspektion eines Bootes über Pflege und "Refit" bis zu Maschinentroubleshooting und Nähen von Persenningen - nichts bleibt unbehandelt. Und alles wird anschaulich erklärt und macht so auch Neulingen Mut zum Selbermachen. Wenn man unbedingt etwas zu kritisieren finden möchte, so kann man anmerken, dass einige der im Buch empfohlenen Produkte in Deutschland nicht erhältlich sind - aber es lässt sich fast immer ein entsprechendes einheimisches Produkt ermitteln, man hat ja Internet ;-)
