Size:160 x 200 cm  |  Colour:Atlas Denim Blue Product Description Pestemal - the reason to get wet!   Pestemal is made of cotton and was one of the first clothes used in civilised society. Nowadays its exceptional features make it popular in our everyday life.   You can take it to the beach or pool, use it as a shawl when you feel cold, as a pique on your bed, caring for your baby or to decorate your home. It’s soft to the touch, weightless, more absorbent than the common towel, dries faster, and takes up less space in your closet or your bag!   Sand free: as our pestemals are flat woven with no loops, there are no threads for sand to get trapped in. All natural: as they are made of 100% natural cotton, it allows your body to breathe keeping it at the ‘right’ temperature, unlike synthetic materials like polyester which will make you sweat Super lightweight: it’s easy to carry around and dries quickly!   How does a Pestemal dry so quickly?   A Pestemal is made with pre-dyed yarn in looms. The yarn is usually made by ring spun yarn, the old school way of producing yarn, making it more durable and more refined, with fewer knots. The fabric is made in looms giving it two, or even three layers, as opposed to non-woven fabrics. Those layers help to absorb larger quantities of water.   With natural heat, the layers in your Pestemal turn the water to vapour and allow an air stream to be created. Since there are no knots the air finds no obstacles and easily takes the vapour out.   Caring for your Pestemal As a general guideline just wash as any other fabric, in 30 degrees with similar colours. Use a shorter wash cycle and less detergent to help the environment.   Note that since cotton is a natural fibre your new Pestemal may lose some, but this will not affect its quality. Avoid using excessive softener while washing because it will make your Pestemal less absorbent. If you need to soften it, use 1 cup of white vinegar every 6 weeks. The reason towels lose their softness is simply because there is soap left in the weave, vinegar helps to remove it.   Drying Whilst tumble drying will make the towel fluffy, do not overdo it. The heat from the dryer can damage the integrity of the cotton fibres. We recommend using a lower heat setting occasionally or alternate between air and heat drying.   Absorbency To maximise the absorbency of a towel, add a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle, about every six weeks, to restore the towel to full absorbency. Run your Pestemal through a regular washing cycle, then repeat washing and add white vinegar instead of soap.   Pulled Threads As all our towels are woven, a pulled loop will not unravel the towel. If you catch the towel, pull it straight and pull a loop, and cut off the pulled loop with a pair of scissors.     All of our Pestemals are made with love. Our yarns are naturally dyed using the traditional process of soaking the dye in water and adding the yarn in the dye bath. The solution is then brought to a simmer for a period ranging from days to weeks until the dye has been transferred to the yarn.   Once you use a Pestemal, you will never do without it again!   *Pestemal and Towel products are certified CONFIDENCE IN TEXTILES and AZO FREE.* Box Contains 1 x pestemal towel

Very useful with lots of situations when it will be used
This "towel" is very lightweight and actually looks more like a rug. We have been using this a lot as a rug on the beach, or park, but also as a shawl or cover for children when it gets a bit cooler towards the end of the day.The diversity is what really appeals here as you may as well take it with anywhere as it will get used.

Decent at a number of things
Whenever I'm presented with something that claims to be so many different things in one, especially when they are quite so different, I'm always more than a little sceptical. This cotton Pestemal, it's a Turkish towel apparently, promises to be a scarf, shawl and blanket all on top of its primary use. Scepticism was abound when looking at the product.First impressions were actually pretty good as the manufacture and look of the product is solid. The colours work well together, the material is thin but robust meaning the only thing letting it down slightly is the tassels (more on those later). In terms of its uses therefore actually quite absorbent as a towel, wouldn't be too bad a blanket or throw for decorative purposes and would make a very large but otherwise solid scarf. That is apart from the tassels. These, while adding to the look, are just a bit strange on a blanket or a towel and I can see them getting in the way pretty quickly.Overall therefore, you've got a product that does a number of different things actually quite reasonably much to my surprise. While there are still some questions over how long it'll last and those tassels overall if you can see a use for it then definitely worth a go - I'd recommend.

It looks like a cotton fringed shawl
I must admit I had never heard of the word pestemal, and after reading about it's many uses I was keen to try it out.It looks like a cotton fringed shawl. It has a silky cotton feel and the colours are really nice. At the moment grey is very in vogue, and forms the main part of this item. It is complemented by pretty pastel stripes in varying colours. As a shawl it's pretty, and it could be worn with an outer coat too.I washed this before use, then tried it out as a towel. I use this for my top half and my normal towel for the bottom. This has a good abrasive quality just like a standard towel, and I was really surprised how absorbent it is, and it actually dried me much quicker than my towel. I hung it on the heated towel rail and it was completely time in less than 15 minutes. This is a really versatile item, worn as a pashmina, a scarf to keep your neck warm, and as a pretty fashion item, as a really effective towel, for the gym or on holiday. It's actually a really attractive scarf and I will definitely be getting full use of this in a multitude of ways.

Light and absorbent and very practical
A lovely natural 100% cotton towel that is so many other things too. For a long time I have resisted getting a towel like this because it really doesn't look as though it will get you properly dry. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This piece of material is very light, can be worn as a scarf or used as a shawl to protect you from the sun without getting too hot. It's decorated with a fringe at two ends. It works as a picnic blanket when spread out or you can sit on it folded up (however as it is so absorbent don't use it on wet grass!) You can get different sizes and different colours. It dries out very quickly too. A useful thing to take with you in a bag on a day out, especially if you have young children and already have loads of stuff to carry.
