Very, very sturdy and it cuts through even the hardest ice cream with ease. I like BIG portions of ice cream when I indulge and this scoop is "the bomb" and is shaped perfectly for either square or oval containers. It has a nice weight to it and appears nearly indestructible. Easy to clean and as it's stainless steel one need not worry about rust. I love ice cream and this awesome scoop!!!

This is sweet. It scoops out 5hehardest ice cream and it will slice thin or thick chunks. Your hand does not get cold. You don't have to shake it or warm it up. And it cleans easily

It’s good for mixing in toppings. I use two to mash in my toppings on a cutting board.

I got mine for scooping solid coconut oil, and it does a great job. It's sturdier than it shows in the picture. The edge digs in really well, and it's sturdy enough to pry the product out. The handle is a great size.

LOVE this item. Only reason I deducted one star is because the handle could be a bit more comfortable. Appears to be high quality stainless steel -- and it works well! I plan to buy another!

UPDATE 2: I am purchasing my 6th spade now. I gave 2 as gifts to my kids, so that I could have a spade to use at their houses. I kept 3. I have another brand that is chrome plated that I plan on tossing out, as it looks horrible after being put in the dishwasher. I call that my "last resort" ice cream spade, as I use it only when all of the others have been used. I am purchasing the 6th spade to replace the other brand that I am tossing out. The 3 spades that I have been using since November 2019 get washed in the dishwasher regularly, and they are all in good shape. Thus, they have survived 4-1/2 years now with almost daily use. My spouse likes a bowl of ice cream daily, so these spades get used (and washed in the dishwasher) about twice a week, as I rotate through them. So each spade has probably been washed in the dishwasher over 450 times by now. (52 weeks in a year. I have 3 spades that each get used 2x per week per spade. Thus, 104 uses per year. And I have had them for 4-1/2 years now. 4.5 x 104 = 468 )UPDATE 1: I have used this ice cream scoop for a few years now, and it has not tarnished or pitted from putting it in the dishwasher regularly. Very pleased.___I was looking for an easy to use ice cream scoop. This one has a spade shape, which makes it easy to get ice cream out of a gallon pail.I ran it through the dishwasher without any problems, which is important to me.This spade is useful if you are older or if you have wrist problems. A spade has a flat, wide area that makes is so that you use less pressure to scoop out ice cream. Additionally, you can get more ice cream out with fewer spoonfuls.

I had never used an ice cream spade before but a friend had one and it sliced through the VERY cold ice cream easily. So I figured I'd order one for myself. Well, this one, though it seems built well and solid for the price, has a VERY dull tip. And it doesn't slice into the rock hard ice cream any better than a solid spoon. So, maybe it's a get what you pay for - and this one was cheap for sure. I'm going to use a metal file and sharpen the tip and sand it smooth again, so hopefully that'll work better... but I suspect there are better options out there.

I never even knew these existed. My mother in law has one and I loved using it on a half gallon of very stiff ice cream. I bought one for myself. I also bought 3 more for my daughters. I never want to be without one !
