Great photography and photographic criticism
This is a very interesting book. Chris Packham is not well known as a photographer but it appears it was (is?) a big part of his life as a naturalist. He has established a reputation as someone who says what he thinks about photography when it comes to criticism and he never fails to reserve his most critical judgement for his own work. But in so doing he gives us many great hints and ideas on how to improve our own personal photography. The passion for his subjects comes through in each photograph and he also adds personal anecdotes which are fun and interesting. I would recommend this book as a gift for someone who likes photography as a hobby even if they are not necessarily interested in the natural world.

Inspirational and aspirational
An interesting selection of photographs from Chris Packham's travels, but it is the narrative behind the image that makes this book to my mind, both in terms of description of how and why it presented as a "picture", and for the insight into how it could have been better. I will never take a "snap" the same way again.

I enjoyed the book and found it useful in how to ...
Chris has treated the subject of photography from a different angle in this book. You expect him to only show "perfect" photos technically, but he shows 100 photos here of things that he found an interesting subject at the time he saw them. There is a wide range of subject matter here and not just wildlife and nature shots and Chris discusses the merits and downfalls of each photograph. I enjoyed the book and found it useful in how to view the world around me from a photographic point of view.

Great if you want to think more about why and ...
This is a fascinating book. It wasn't what I had expected, but turned out to be a really interesting insight into photography, the way we see the world and try to capture it. The text was actually the key part of the book, not the photographs. Great if you want to think more about why and how you are taking pictures, and also an insight into perfectionism.

Excellent photography/nature book
As usual, Chris Packham brings a new twist to a popular subject, in this case photography. Some really though provoking comments and some excellent photographs in support.
