This is my third Heavy Duty Cane Bolt Gate Drop Rod. I installed this particular Gate Drop Rod on my Barn Shed Door. These Rods are the perfect solution for my Gates and Sheds. I also cut and placed a VPC 3/4" Polyethylene Pipe in the ground for the Rod to drop into. These iron Rods were built to last and look good too.

On a windy day, the straight 12-ft channel between our house and our neighbor creates a venturi effect, magnifying the strength of the wind and creating a safety hazard; so these cane rods are vital. The 1/2-inch thickness of the material strikes the right balance between strength and weight, and the design is simple, attractive and make for a quick and easy installation. The supplied hardware was adequate, but I opted for longer screws because of the soft cedar wood.Zoom in and you'll see the concrete anchors I installed, two for each rod. These anchors are easy to use and a snap to install, but make sure the rods are fastened to a sturdy support. I had to add 2x4 bracing because my lovely gate material was so flimsy. The forms for the anchors I improvised from PVC pipe scraps scrounged from ACE Hardware. I poured rapid-set Quickcrete (red bag) and jiggled everything for about 10 minutes until it set.Highly recommended. Price is right and love the look and function.

We returned this because we have a metal double gate and the top piece of this is 2" wide and our gate outer frame is 1.5" wide. We bought different brand with a smaller top piece and narrower rectangular middle parts.Seemed to be nice quality.
