Informative and interesting
Great foundation book. Informative and easy to follow it’s a great reference point for riders and trainers alike. I really recommend for riders of all abilities and anyone wishing to engage in schooling work with their horse, should be on every riders shelf

After purchasing trouble shooting riding manuals I felt underwhelmed and to be quite frank ripped off.I wasn't born in the saddle but I'm an adult advanced standard rider who has been riding (pretty obsessively) for 6 years. For me this book has it all. It's information is delivered in a high level and comprehensive manner and is invaluable whether you're into jumping, flat work or cross country. What I loved about this book is that it armed me with questions to fire at my instructor and it compounded learning from my riding lessons.

great introduction to all things horsey
Clear basic introduction to riding & horse management with helpful illustrations. Some more illustrations would have been helpful. The language did not use horsey jargon which I found helpful, so I found it quite readable.

Covers equitation
Very useful book. Not too in-depth but it does cover all the dressage figures, how jumps and a little x-country.

Thorough theory on learning to ride well
A comprehensive book from the British Horse Society that provides an excellent theory back-up for anyone taking riding lessons. You won't necessarily need this book if you are a complete beginner but once you have decided you are going to continue to ride regularly you won't regret investing in a copy.

The best and most concise actual 'manual' for horse-riding in the ...
The best and most concise actual 'manual' for horse-riding in the European style (known as 'English riding' in the USA) and for the training of the riding-horse in the same style. Having both aspects in the same volume gives Beginner and Intermediate-level riders a good idea on how the horse has been trained, so that their own riding suits the horse's training (i.e., the horse's education) and experience. This helps improve the rider's own performance and development as a rider.A continuously revised and updated manual, the present edition contains the formal European 'scales of training' and all other necessary information for riders and trainers.A must-have book for anyone who wants to ride as a serious hobby, and a necessary reference book for English-using teachers of horse-riding. This is the standard reference book for all - the ultimate go-to reference book.
