Nice quality 304 Stainless Steel Diverter. You MUST use high-density PTFE (teflon) tape & PTFE Pipe dope/paste OR it will leak like a sieve.

Well cut threads are essential on stainless fittings to prevent galling. These threads are a little rough deep in the cut, which is why I gave four instead of five stars, but no galling occurred. Otherwise, parts are very well cast and finished. Recommended with the caveat that you might have to chase your threads a wee bit with a 1/2 inch NPT tap.

I should have read the other reviews first. This is NOT an NPT threaded device. Nothing else that is NPT will properly screw into it. Perhaps some PVC or other softer material might work, but other good stainless steel male threads won't even screw one-half of the way in.I fear that someone trying to sell this simply thought adding "NPT" would help it's search friendliness (& it did trick me) without even knowing what NPT is or means. This product description needs to be changed or the product should be removed from the store. It is simply NOT what is advertised.

Regardless of how much pipe dope or teflon tape you use, this tee leaks. The problem is that the female threads are not tapered and as a consequence, any male connectors threading on it will bottom out and will never seal. Just get a brass tee from the Home Depot and forget about these stainless steel fittings.
