Potty poetry
This book is a beautiful combination of the best of pottery and poetry. It reminds me of the Japanese tradition in both disciplines. It gives a deep insight into the process of potting. Fergus Stewart is a master of his craft and Kathy's words do justice to Fergus's work. Fergus lives and pots in Lochinver, a small once fishing village in the extreme north west of Scotland. The land there is beautiful, vast, wild and remote - one of the true last wilderness areas of the British Isles. Fergus's pots reflect the colours, textures and spareness of this place. The oldest rocks in the world outcrop everywhere and are covered by peat, lichens and heather, Fergus's pots merge seamlessly with Kathy's words to transport you to this elemental place. Treat yourself to some time out, put the kettle on, select your tea bowl and contemplate........
