My son is getting more into chess and we wanted to be able to play quicker games. This timer performs well in that you can adjust from longer games to fast games easily.

I usually don't time my chess games, but I do play board games and have had issues with people taking too long to play in my group. Not a huge deal, but if it is a weeknight, you can't really commit 2+ hours to a game that is designed to take 1. It is super easy to take the suggested game time and divide it by 2 for a 2-player game and set the basic clock at that time. Gives the appropriate amount of pressure to the player and puts them in control of their time management. Overall, the clock is a bit light, but the numbers are big and easy to read, the paddle is sturdy enough and it looks nice.

Large button to press, and large numbers that are easy to see. I would have liked a more easy to set and adjust timing - I have a hard time figuring out how to get it to go to the setting I want. The instructions aren't very helpful and I wish there were more shorter "speed" chess settings on it. But for standard chess match times and turn duration clocking, it does it's job. But just a big learning curve that makes me not want to use it a ton with my son who loves chess.

This is a great timer for Chess whether you're playing a lengthy game or a blitz game. The hours, minutes, and seconds can be easily adjusted. There can also be a bonus amount of time added for each turn or a delayed amount of time at the start of a turn. Additionally, an alarm can be turned on/off that will alert a player when they are in the final 10 seconds remaining of their turn. The timer is well-built with an easy to read display, buttons that function well, and a main button that is highly responsive. There is even a counter that keeps track of moves played. The timer is easy to set-up with very clear instructions. I can easily recommend this Chess timer!

This is a decent digital game-play timer. It's pretty easy to figure out all of the bells & whistles, and it comes with batteries, so that's a nice bonus. You can turn the sound on or off, and choose from three different settings - basic, delay, and bonus. I definitely recommend keeping the manual handy, because it is a good reference tool when needing to toggle between the different settings. Good timer though for a good price, my son's chess club is getting good use out of it!
