I intended to attach this device to the ceiling using the sticky pads but I couldn't figure out how to attach the part which is supposed to fit onto the alarm itself as it doesn't have a flat surface on which to place it. Neither does the circular metal disc fit inside the frame. So, I just opted instead to attach it to the ceiling using the screws provided. It was easy to do and I'm probably glad I did do this as I imagine it will be more secure. It is also totally unobtrusive and you would need to know to look for it where I have placed it.It is recommended that you have additional devices depending on the size of your house, and whether or not you have stairs, but I don't feel I want them all over the place, just placed near enough the kitchen so that it will hopefully warn us while we still have various escape routes. Perhaps if there was only one way out, then it would be necessary to have more of them.It is difficult to say whether or not the device is effective as, of course, you are not going to find that out unless there is a fire! However, I regularly check that it is still emitting a flash of light to let me know it is still working. I suppose my main area of satisfaction is knowing I have the device installed and it is worth the money for peace of mind alone.

I bought 32 of these, too soon to judge if they function well. My serious concern is that almost all of them fell down and some of them got damaged because either the magnet is not strong enough to hold the unit or the stickers are not holding. I tried them on 3 different types of ceilings materials (gypsum, aluminum, hard concrete), the result is the same, they fell down.What attracted me to the product is the marketing tip “no need for screws”. However, this claim does not hold in reality. I think I will try to super glue the ones that did not get damaged and see how it goes. If that does not work, I will screw them the old fashion way, if they still work.Further, there is no instructions in the manual that comes with the product about how to install them using the stickers and magnetic. You have to figure out that yourself. I wrote the company asking them for instructions, but never heard back from them.Disappointed from the above aspects.

Purchased 3 of these 2.5 years ago and 2 out of the 3 i purchased are now defective!Had to remove them and dispose of them as they keep setting off at all times of the day including in the middle of the night waking the whole family up in panic.I contacted the seller terraberk 11 days ago still haven't recieved a response from them,I feel the product is very poor considering the supposed life span and the nature in what the product us used for.Think very carefully in what you buy and make sure you have confidence in them as they could potentially save your life unlike these.

I thought it would have picked up some smoke from cooking in the next room but it didn't. Still not sure if this means it is not sensitive enough or if it is good that it is not too sensitive! The main thing is it fell off the ceiling after 2 days. Actually the bit stuck to the ceiling beam has stayed on and the magnetised plates held but it was the sticky part that held the unit to the plates that failed. I superglued the parts together and so far it has held.

I had 2, one for myself and another for mother in law. You stick the metal plate to the ceiling and the other on the smoke alarm, it's magnetic. I tested it to show it was working, great. When I took the other smoke alarm, I tested it and it didn't work. I contacted the seller and they were brilliant, no questions asked they sent me a replacement and I didn't have the hassle of sending the dud one back. Would recommend them and use again

I haven't as yet installed it anywhere (house is under renovation) but it seems nice and neat, smaller than others I have used but that's not to say it wont be as or even more efficient. I will only know that when its up and running! Suffice to say, as its SO neat, if I'm happy with it when its working, then I'll be ordering at least 1 more.

Item arrived on time. Very easy to install with the magnetic hold though the alarm can slip off the magnet due to its weight. I had to use a small nail for the alarm to stay on the magnetic hold.The alarm as such is secellent and is good value for money. Well the battery is supposed to last 10 years and if it does what it says on the tin then its a great item well worth the purchase.

It's only a smoke alarm but it could save lives for less than a tenner. What a bargain.10 year battery life, simple and easy to fit and to test. The company kept me informed of the arrival date with clear and polite emails which was really appreciated. Very happy with my purchase and will buy again when needed. Thank you.
